Cooking in stoneware? need asap

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive May 2005: Cooking in stoneware? need asap
By Dana on Friday, May 13, 2005 - 11:29 am:

Do I need to coat my stoneware w/ the butter and flour that my recipe calls for? I've never cooked anything but meatloaf in my stoneware.

I'm making banana bread. Should I just use my regular glass loaf dish?

TIA

Can I use PAM instead?

By Kittycat_26 on Friday, May 13, 2005 - 11:50 am:

Unless your stoneware is well seasoned, you should probably use at least the butter. I use Pam all the time instead of actually coating it by hand.

Plus, using the Pam will just help season your stone some more.

I love the stoneware if only it wasn't sooooo heavy.

If it is your first time useing the stone, use butter or oil/pam. I always used olive oil to coat mine.

Thanks so much! I will use the pam just to make sure.
