Food Poisoning???

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive May 2005: Food Poisoning???

Amy and I went out to eat last night at Double Ds' Steak House. Ever since we got home I have felt like I had to throw up. We saw a fire in the woods close to the house where the little girl whom Amy baby sits and we had to wait for the fire Dept. So that process took about 45 min. I started to feel sick around the time we left from there. Does this Sound like food poisoning?

It could be. Have you thrown up yet? If you have and it won't stop, you probably do. Drink some gingerale and eat some saltine crackers (slowly). I know exactly how you feel, and I hope you feel better soon.

I would say more likely that it is just something that didn't agree with your stomach. We all had food poisoning once and it is nothing you can control. We had it coming out both ends almost non stop. We ended up at the er (we were on vacation) and we needed antibiotics for it. I would say it isn't true food poisoning.

Food poisoning makes you vomit and usually within 2-3 hours. I would have to say that it is probably not, but it could be you are coming down with something, OR just stress from the fire and some anxiety set your stomach in motion. Sorry you aren't feeling good.

Is it possible that it's an emotional response to seeing the fire? After going thru what you and your family went thru with your own fire, I can see anyone in your shoes tensing up and feeling sick to their stomach. Food poisoning doesn't usually strike immediately after eating. I hope you feel better soon!

I am going to say if you haven't vomited or had diarrhea that it isn't food poisoning. Kate & Kaye have a good thought that it could be a response from seeing the fire or you could be coming down with the flu.

My dh got food posioning a couple of weeks ago. I definately think you would be throwing up by now. He woke up in the morning and said he was dizzy, light headed by afternoon it was all over. He got sick at least 15 times and I thought I was going to have to take him to the ER. I am just telling you this to say if it was food poisioning you would know it. Try dramamine that is what the doctor told us to try. My dh could not keep it down to even see if it would work but maybe since your not it will work. Good luck! I know its the worse!

I had the flu a few weeks ago. And i felt like i was going to throw up for like 3 or 4 days before i actually got sick. I REALLY hope you don't get what i had though, it was rough!

I hate to tell you this, but when it got really bad and my stomach was hurting so much, i made myself throw up. I did feel better afterwards though.

I hope you feel better soon.

Food poisioning is pretty sudden and violent, at least in my experience. It sounds to me more like a stomach bug....

THANKS YOU GUYS.

I would say it had to be a bug or your nerves too.

We have had food poisoning around here and it is usually very violent. One of the girls got it and she wouldn't even know she was going to throw up it would come on so quick. When I had it I knew the minute my stomach rolled once I better run.

It is odd the things our mind is able to do to the rest of our bodies when we are under distress. And I am sure seeing the fire had to stir up some emotions. Especially with the type of guy you are. Glad you are feeling better.
