UGH! My feet have just started swelling these past few days. It is so uncomfortable I feel like I am walking on little water balloons. I just went to the doctor today and everything is fine. I said boy my feet are swelling and doctor said yeah I see that, but that's all she said.

Do you know of anything I could do to help the swelling go down...a lady at my church said pineapple or asparagus...ever tried that? Does it work? TIA for ANY advice..:)

I had terrible feet swelling during my pregnancy and it turned out I had a variation of preclampsia (HELLP Syndrome actually) that we tested for and didn't show up until the last minute, long story short. Just put them up whenever you can, even if it's for 5 minutes. Something cool will help them to feel better, although I don't know if it reduces the swelling really. Mine were terrible! Hang in there....:)

Get two cans of cold soda, place them under you feet & roll them back & forth. It massages your feet, cools them down & helps reduce a little swelling. Keep them up as much as possible also.
Are you eating a lot of salty things?

Cold cans, great idea!

I would also suggest doing some yoga style elevations with your legs against the wall to get all the blood flowing in the opposite direction.Stop if you get dizzy of course.
Might help to get some accupressure on the feet, on the ankles can bring on labor.
hmmmm...

I had terrible swelling with my pregnancies. Asparagus and watermelon are natural diuretics and they taste so good. Laying on your left side helps get the blood pumping and pulling the fluid from your feet and keeps your feet up, which is always a good thing. Soaks in a cool tub of water and cutting out salty foods, although a lot of pregnancy swelling isn't caused by salt intake. It can make a bad thing worse though.

I worked as a cashier when I was PG. I had foot problems for 3 years afterward b/c I didn't get the right shoes. A podiatrist finally told me I had plantar fasciitis. I had to get orthotics in my shoes and I had to wear my shoes all the time, even at home.

Good Luck!

Pineapple and cranberry are too. Limit your salt/sodium, drink water with some lemon juice in it, and elevate your feet/legs.

All I can say is, "I can relate!"
I hated that I couldn't see my ankle bones...won't be too much longer...hang in there!!!

Thanks guys, I will be getting some of the good food mentioned. I am not much of a salty person. I have been craving fruit this whole time, so I am into the natural sweets. I drink so much water a day I just don't understand the swelling.

*Funny story ~ when I went to the doctor yesterday, I was standing there and the nurse that does my blood pressure and checks my urine says, "You've got some good looking pee-pee" I busted out laughing and she said, you're about to make me loose it, and we were standing there both cracking up. LOL

I had terrible swelling when I was pg and the BEST thing that I did with both was swimming. We had a pool with my first and it was summer, so I just went to the backyard. My feet would go down actually within 30 minutes of getting in the water.

My 2nd was a winter baby and we lived out west where backyard pools aren't as common, so I signed up for a pregnancy swimming class. It was lots of fun and the benefits just can't be beat! My feet used to feel like ball park franks! LOL

It used to be fun to get on a float and actually lay on my stomach for a change.

I bought some fresh pineapple and ate some, but no one told me that it would give me such heartburn...If it's not one thing it's another..lol :) And the swelling hasn't gone down yet. Oh and DH gave me permission to go into Labor when he gets in on Saturday, wasn't that nice, and he is taking most of next week off. :)

I'm glad that you have his permission. LOL:)

LOL that you have his permission :)
I hope the heart burn didn't last to long. I discovered Tums smooth dissolve when I was pregnant because I had such horrible hear tburn. My dd came out with a head of hair too, just lost it after she got a little older LOL.

By Rayanne on Friday, May 13, 2005 - 10:23 am:

I had horrable heart burn too!!!!
Rylee came out with a full head of hair though.
Tums worked really well for me.
They were like candy:)

By Tonya on Friday, May 13, 2005 - 10:27 am:

I lived on chewable tums and Jade came out with a headfull of hair. No heartburn at all with TImmy and he was bald until after his 1st B-day.

What is funny is in the hospital after I had her I ate things that a few days prior would have given me heartburn and it didn't and that is only 12 hours after I had her it was gone right away.

By Rayanne on Friday, May 13, 2005 - 10:29 am:

I know what you mean Tonya:)
I could not eat Chicken throughout my whole pregnancy with Rylee. It just made me sick. The smell, the sight, and oh gosh, the taste.
When Rylee came out, I wanted Chicken.
Too funy.
