Share your mother's Day here...

By Yjja123 on Sunday, May 8, 2005 - 06:14 pm:

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day! I thought it would be fun to post how you spent the day and what you received.

I woke up this morning to Jessica begging me to wake up so she could give me my gift. She bought me a bottle of warm vanilla sugar body cream by bath & body works. She made a card that she would love me forever and ever.

Addison cleaned out my car as a gift and made me a painting.

Hubby gave me a new keyboard and mouse--wireless. I love it.
He also gave me a card with a poem so corny it's perfect. Since he doesn't know anyone here :) I am going to share it (he would die if I read it to anyone we know LOL)

I love you more
than life itself
whenever you need something
I will put everything else on a shelf
I love you more
than life itself
I will be with you forever
in sickness & in health
I love you more
than life itself
you can take that to the bank
and add it to our wealth
I love you Yvonne
you are my best friend & my soul mate.
I cannot believe how lucky I am to have a woman like you to grow old with and to be together with FOREVER!!
Love,
John

The card said
"To my wife on Mother's Day
When I see you being such a patient, loving mom, I can't help but think...
What a Babe! Of course I always think that"

Well I woke up and my 4 year old gave me fake flowers that I already had and told me happy mothers day. It was cute. I just laid them down and when she would see them again she would do it all over again. It was fun. We went to church and then came home and had a picnic outside in the yard with the kids ages 4,2,and 1. They played for a long time while I laid on a blanket and read and talked to dh when he came outside. We then came inside and put the kids for a nap and then "paid the bills" in our room and then I took and a nap and dh took care of the kids when they woke up and now I am lazying around playing with the kids and stuff. Dh also fixed dinner. It was simple and nice.

Not much happened here today. Peyton gave me her gift-flowers in a pot she decorated-after school on Thursday. Griffin gave me his present-a card he made with coupons he made-after school on Friday. Alec forgot the card he made at school. And dh was up sick all night and was sick all day today. We were supposed to go out for breakfast, but cancelled that because dh is sick. The boys had some money burning a hole in their pocket so I took them to Toys 'R Us. Since we got home I have been helping ds with his book report. Not the most exciting Mother's Day, but that's okay. :)

Well this was my first official mother's day, being that I was pregnant last mother's day. It was a nice day. Hubby gave me a mother and child pendant that i have had my heart set on. :) and then we had a nice potluck lunch at my sister's house. We had a great time. My dd did wake up with a 102 fever though, :( she seemed okay the rest of the day after some tylenol. I hope that everyone had a great mother's day!

By Amy~moderator on Sunday, May 8, 2005 - 09:22 pm:

Wow, sounds like you all had a nice Mother's Day! And why is everyone sick today? My youngest also has a fever.

Well - my day - We went camping! Yay! :) We camped overnight in the woods (yes, with a 6yr old, 3yr old, and 19mth old), grilled breakfast, lunch and dinner over a fire (hubby collected wood for it), told scary ghost stories at night in the tent last night, took lots of pictures...
My oldest boy made me a card and a coaster that he hand-painted - I love it! Came home today, took a long nap while hubby watched the kids.

I had a great Mother's Day! Hope you all did too!

I had a great Mother's Day! Got to sleep in till 9, when a friend of mine called to see how I was doing with it being the 1st Mother's Day without my mom. I thought that was so sweet of her! DS who is 19 gave me beautiful mixed flowers in a vase, DS who is 10 gave me a potted marigold they did in school and a cute plastic plate with his pic on it they did in school. And a precious card he made. DD gave me petunia's to plant outside. He favorite because they were pink and a hugh card she had Daddy buy. And DH gave me money to go get something just for me:)
Went to DS's baseball game at 2 there till 4:15 ran home, got dressed and went out to eat at 5:30 with the 3 DK's and DH. I had a New York Strip Steak with mushrooms, it was soooo good. Always is when you don't have to cook:) Came home and after eating so much relaxed on the couch and watched Garfield the movie. Now it time for bed.
Hope everyone had an excellent Mom's Day:) I sure did.

DH got up with DD at 6:15 this morning and I slept until 8!!!!! DH and DS gave me a beautiful card that they made together and a certificate for a massage at a day spa by our house.
Then we drove to my MIL house for brunch played for a little while then came home. Now we are busy packing for our trip to Palm Springs. :)

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY EVERYONE!

By Truestori on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 12:30 am:

I had a very sweet day! I woke up around 8:00 while there was still silence in the house. LOL

My son gave me a card that was so funny. He is just learning how to write and wrote a card that said My moms hair is yellow, and she loves flowers, the next page proceeded to say that she doesn't like poop! Where the heck did that come from? I'm sure his teacher wondered also...LOL

My husband gave me a beautiful card, explaning why I am the best mom in the world, and how much he loves me. (sorry ladies, I took all the credit LOL)*grin* and a certificate for a spa, that entails me to an hour massage. I have never had one so this should be heaven.
Then we were off to house hunt and we think we found the one! I so scared to bite the bullet and move, taking on a bigger payment, higher taxes, but I think its time! On a sidenote, I am going to be a BIG SISTER!!! My dad's wife is having a little girl, whom I named Paige, on June 28th. I'm very excited for her arrival and this move will allow us to be much closer to her and my father. Ok, I'm done blabbing...Goodnight :)

By Kernkate on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 08:44 am:

Stori, that so nice you are going to be a big sister:) And they are going to name her Paige, thats a cute name! With a big sis like you , she will be spoiled:)

By Vicki on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 09:11 am:

I am so sorry that you has a less than perfect day Conni. It sounds like you and dh are going through allot right now. I hope things get better for you soon.

By Vicki on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 09:16 am:

We all got up about the same time and dh and dd took me out to breakfast and then to my favorite nursery! It is about a hour away and I won't drive there myself because I am not familiar at all with the area. I picked out tons of flowers and a couple of hanging baskets etc for the house. We came home and dh mowed and put a treatment down on the grass while I planted flowers in my containers and a few in the ground. Then dh made dinner which consisted of steaks on the grill, noodles and green beans. Not exactly gourmet, but a great effort for him. He even cleaned up the kitchen! Dd made me a little gift in school and she gave that to me and they both got me a massage chair. LOVE IT! We were looking at them a few weeks ago, but never guessed that dh would go back and buy it. Dh then made sure that dd took her shower and all of that. It was a great day. Couldn't have planned it any better myself!

By Conni on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 09:20 am:

Well after re-reading my post I should say that sleeping in was GREAT! And I did enjoy going to my Mom's house and spending time with them. :)

I really should learn to not expect so much from my dh. Then I wont feel let down. ;) lol!! I just need to keep telling myself that.

By Debbie on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 10:17 am:

Oh Conni, it is okay to feel let down. I think that sometimes are dh's(and I don't mean dear) just don't get it.

Well, I started feeling sick on Friday. Woke up with a terrible sore throat on Sat. I found out that one of the dks that I help at school has strep. So, I spent yesterday in bed feeling terrible. I am hoping to get into the doctor today. Dh and my dks brought me breakfast in bed. My youngest made me a bracelet in school. He used the ugliest color beads, but I still wore it proudly. My other ds made me a pin in school. They both made cards that were great. Dh gave me flowers, a few books and a pedometer. Then he told me I could go pick out a new printer when I felt better. Our old printer hasn't worked right since we moved last year. Dh played with the dks all day and then picked up dinner and brought it home. Not a bad day, but I was so sad that I wasn't feeling well. Now, my oldest is home from school feeling yucky. I am hoping we aren't passing strep around.

Both the kids woke me up with a smile and a "Happy Mother's Day mommy!"

We went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast with my mom. They were handing out carnations to all moms. Then we went home and worked in the garden. We made a new flower bed and bought a bunch of bushes for it.

the kids gave me 2 picture frames and a tote bag they decorated with "World's Best Mom!" and put their hand prints on it.

Then we ate dinner at my mother in laws house. Then i took a nice long walk with my sis-in-law....gotta work off that Ice Cream Cake!! YUM!

By Tonya on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 11:10 am:

Boy did I need it it was nice.

By Babysitbarb on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 11:22 am:

Got to sleep in also.
DH and DD's gave me cards.
DH just gave me money because Im so picky and that way I can buy what I want. I actually have the money he agve me for christmas and my b-day(dec 29) so I plan to put the money together and hoefully buy a digital camera.
I mowed the grass so I could get some sun and later in the evening we went to my DB and DSIl's for dinner. My parents were there also.
normally we go get flowers on mother's day and start planting some but, my oldest DD had a large project that's due on wednesday and she had lots of typing to do so we stayed home most of the day.

By Rayanne on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 12:08 pm:

Well, I didn't get to sleep in, but it's ok.

Chris and Rylee both got me cute cards.
Rylee got me a beautiful picture frame, and Chris said to see my gift, I had to open the frame, and there was a beautiful 3 stone diamond pendant inside. I cried my eyes out.
When I saw it, I said, "For real?" He said, "No, it's just look at and then we have to return it on Monday." I just laughed.

It was an awesome day.

I went to see my Mom around 5pm, and she gave me a huge hug and said that she was glad to have me. I cried again. My Mom is losing her Mom and is going through a rough time right now with my brother. It made me feel godd to hear her say that to me, and for those of you who know me, know that those words mean a lot coming from her.

Happy Mommy's Day to everyone

My b/f and I went camping. I guess that was my mother's dad gift from him? It was a less than ideal weekend but I don't want to go into the details. It was a nice get away from the city though. I don't think he really thought about the mother's day thing at all as it didn't get mentioned by him at all :(

my boys made me cards and my daughter's kindergarten class made all the mom's plaques with their handprints and painted with a paper on the back that says :

Mom,
Here is my hand
So tiny and small
To hang somewhere upon the wall
To watch as the years go flying by,
How we grow my hand and I.
Love (her name here)

Unfortunately I didn't get to see them until bedtime on mother's day as it was my ex's weekend with them :(

My two closest friends did think to call and wish me a happy mother's day (and one came over to visit me too) so that was a nice evening surprise visit :)

Overall the day wasn't bad. nice yet melancholy.

We had a wonderful day! It's my first mom's day, so I was excited (nerdy, I know)! Dh gave me a wonderful card, as well as a beautiful card 'signed' by my dd (10mths). He also gave me a lovely hand carved mother-child statue, which I absolutely love and a funny book about new mommies. We spent the day with our dogs and dd and took a long trip to the park and walking through the woods together. I had a great first Mom's Day.

By Palmbchprincess on Monday, May 9, 2005 - 11:01 pm:

We went to Indiana to see Nate's family last week, and left Saturday night for home, so my Mother's Day was spent on the road. I got to see a high speed chase in Arkansas early in the morning (it was sadly the most entertaining event of the morning) and finally got home about lunchtime. Nate and his middle brother made dinner for their mom and me, and N helped the kids decorate a cake for us. I can't complain, I got a camera last week as an early gift, we had a wonderful trip, and this was the first year the kids could actually say Happy Mother's Day to me. There is nothing sweeter than that.

Slept till 8, went to church, had lunch at Cracker Barrel and went to see "Hitchhiker's Guide".
Dd and dh made me a t-shirt with dd's pic on it. Dh asked her if she wanted it to say anything and it says "I love you, Mommy, all the way to the moon...
and back". Some of you mommies may just know where that came from but that's what we say to each other all the time. Dh also got dd and me matching corsages and he got me a beatiful new outfit. And I got an afternoon nap before the movie which never happens for me.

Well, my Mother's Day did not exactly contain alot of "Hallmark moments."
Ds was still not 100% back to normal from his cold but I had to go to work anyway,
....my last day.
While at work I cut my finger and had to go the E.R. and get two stitches.
While at the E.R. I call home and there is no answer for two hours so now I'm worried about them.
I get home and they are fine and never heard the phone ring(ringer was off).
Dh had made me dinner and was worried. Then we all went for a walk around the neighborhood .
I put ds to bed and dh went out with his friends.
I did get a pretty card and beaded bracelet from a girlfriend and dh is treating me to a massage this week.He has never been big on cards and flowers.
Slicing my finger was not fun but it did get me out of doing dishes for a couple of days.LOL
I can still type though.:)
