My dd will be going to Brownie camp this summer and while there they will have a Hertiage Day. She is supposed to wear a costume from the 1905 era. Any idea what this would be?

Just checking on the net it seemed as the women wore long dresses.

My ds just went on a field trip to a one room school house in our area a few weeks ago. They actually had school there, recess on a playground with old time toys, and took their lunch(which had to consist of leftovers from a meal and NO ziploc bags lol) in a pail or basket. :) He dressed in overalls and a button up cotton shirt. Too fun!!! He loved it.

I will ask him what the girls wore if any of them dressed the part...

Brad is home sick today and he said that the girl in particular that he remembers wore long faded pink skirt, braided hair (he remembered that part well!! hehehe), long sleeve shirt with pink flowers on it. He said the skirt came up to her shoulders??? I think he is trying to say the skirt may have been like overalls?? Does that sound right? lol

Thanks for the help ladies. Now to find a pattern to sew.

Take a straw cowboy hat and cover it with silk bows and flowers. Perch it tilted over her eye. Wear a long floor length skirt and a ruffle necked blouse with high boots and black stockings.

Sarah went to an old-time school-house in 4th grade. Here is the outfit I sewed for her.

Dawn, what year would that be, do you think?

By Jann on Thursday, May 5, 2005 - 04:17 pm:

Paula, I think that link I posted was a pattern.

I really have no idea, probably before 1905, though. It's more of a pioneer outfit, I think.

Dawn, that is just adorable! What cute pictures!

Do you want to know when I was at Walmart buying the fabric for that? 9:30pm on a Friday night. The field trip was the next Thursday! I actually didn't have the pinafore done, but her field trip was around Thanksgiving and I did have the pinafore done by Thanksgiving. That is when the pictures were taken!

(Can I turn down the pleading eyes of a kid who really wanted to dress the part? Noooo!)
