I'm getting nervous...

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive April 2005: I'm getting nervous...
By My2cuties on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 02:56 pm:

please help me chill out.

Katelyn was 8 lbs. 4oz. Hailey was 8 lbs. 11oz. and I am so nervous this baby will be so big. I didn't have a problem delivering Hailey I just wonder if this baby is any bigger will I be able to do it. I had a dream I had the baby and she was a boy and huge I mean looked like a toddler. I know crazy pregnancy dreams but still that really has me freaking out now. My belly is not real huge or anything and the doctor hasn't said anything except that she thinks the baby will be long.

I guess since I am getting nervous it means it has actually became a reality for me, but oh boy. So how big were your babies and did you fear not being able to deliver? I am so antsy, I am nearly 38 weeks so I am thinking Monday (I will be 38w 1d) I will talk to my doctor about some of the teas and stuff to drink to naturally induce so the baby doesn't get too big.

Oh and I am scared to death that the house is not going to be clean when I go to the hospital so I have been walking 2 steps behind the girls picking up the toys, how aweful, I bet they think I am a loon.

I wasn't nervous the first time but, I was with my second one because I knew more what to expect. You would think it would have been the other way around but,it wasn't. One of our neighbors is getting ready to deliver baby no# 14 and she has 3 grandkids and one to be born anytime also. This to me says she needs to be done.

By Melanie on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 03:40 pm:

#1 was 7 lbs 14 ozs. #2 was 10 lbs 4 ozs. So yes, I was nervous when it came to #3! But she turned out to be a petite 8 lbs 14 ozs. Don't stress about the house. It's all good. Just relax and think about holding that precious new miracle in your arms. :)

By Karen~moderator on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 04:27 pm:

Mine were *small* by today's standards-#1 was 7 lbs. 8 ozs., #2 was 6 lbs. 11 oz. - BUT they were both over 3 weeks early.

And speaking of crazy pregnancy dreams, when I was pg with #1, I was so freaked about the actual delivery, I dreamed I had a litter of kittens with baby heads! No bull, I swear that is true!

I know a number of people who had a large first or second child and the next one was smaller.

By Clarabel on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 05:44 pm:

It's probably symbolic, the dream I mean.
Because the baby is a "big" deal.
The other night I dreamed I had triplets that were born toddlers AND a litter of kittens.
:)

By Kaye on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 06:03 pm:

My 3rd baby was my smallest by nearly a pound. I knew it though. With my middle kid I was just all baby and could feel just how big he was. How do you feel, not is your tummy bigger, but feel around on the baby, how does she feel?

By Bea on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 06:11 pm:

My last was 10 lbs 1/2 oz. I was 5'2" tall and weighed 112 before pregnancy. He slid out like a little greased piggy.

By Rayanne on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 06:14 pm:

Rylee was 8pounds 1.9ounces, and the doctor didn't think that I would be able to push her out, but I proved her wrong. LOL. What helped me a lot was using a mirror. You will do fine. I remember those crazy pregnancy dreams too. I kept having dreams that Rylee was a boy, and I was freaking out because I had all girl stuff, and her room was painted like a garden. I was not about to paint over what I already painted, and I couldn't return stuff, because all the tags were off, and all the clothes were washed. Thank goodness they were just dreams.:)

By Emily7 on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 06:25 pm:

LOL Bea.
#1 was 7 pounds 10 oz, but born at 36 weeks
#2 was 9 pounds 8 oz, born at 38 weeks
considering my dh 6'9" I think that my babies were small, dh was 24 inches long & almost 11 pounds at birth.

By Breann on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 07:10 pm:

LOL Bea :)

#1 was 6 pounds 6 ounces
#2 was 7 pounds 7 ounces

I'm thinking that my future number 3 might be 8 pounds 8 ounces? LoL, wouldn't that be cool?

By My2cuties on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 07:15 pm:

LOL Bea!
and Karen, I haven't had a dream about a litter yet, that is too funny, lol

Thanks guys, you made me feel better! :) The reason I am worried is because the girls are only 2 years apart and my body hasn't had time to get back to "normal".

Also, Kaye, sometimes I feel like she can reach around to my back, but I have carried her real low, I have been able to breathe the entire pregnancy and I remember with Katelyn I thought I was sufficating. I never could tell this time when I dropped but DH and his friend could. Here's hoping this weekend goes real good, after pictures tomorrow, of course! LOL

By My2cuties on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 07:16 pm:

lol, breann, that is really weird!

By Momoffour on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 07:19 pm:

my oldest and my second girl weighed exactly the same 7lbs 13 oz and the twins they weighed 4lb13oz and my boy weighed 5lb 7oz so I really never had the experience of a big baby. but m y brother weighed 11lbs a few onces from being 12.

By Rayelle on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 09:57 pm:

My 2nd was 8lbs, 15 oz ( of course the one the epidural didn't work for, lol) They had me crazy with my 3rd since I measured big, but she was just a little over 8. I didn't get nervous until the end with my third, I was more like " I know what I have to do but I don't want to" .My first induction didn't work so then I was like " Get out!!" (lol) I know its unpredictable, but I think it does get a little easier with each one. My first labor was 12hrs and so was #2, but #3 was 3 hrs from pain to baby. The nurse said if I had dd natural I could easily have the 9 pounder they were preparing me for, but I had my doubts. Good luck!

By Tink on Thursday, April 28, 2005 - 10:39 pm:

My oldest was 7lbs, 13 oz at 39 weeks. My ds was 9lbs, 4oz at 37 weeks. They told me he would have been close to 11lbs if I'd gone full-term with him. My third was 7lbs, 11oz at 38 weeks. My dh and I were both barely over 5 lbs at birth so I don't think anything can really predict how much a baby will weigh or how easy or tough a labor will be. I'm sure you'll do great! We'll all be cheering you on.

Lets see that comment about toddlers made me laugh. Timmy was 10lb 2oz and really long they said 2 in above what standard. Jade was 9lb 6oz and the same length as her brother. They said they are not sure how I kept them both in so long because they were both so long. And we I went 2 weeks over with Timmy. And was 9 days over with Jade. Both over due due to DR.s 2nd guessing my due date when they shouldn't have. I probably would have had 8lb babies instead if I was on my due date.

By Brandy on Friday, April 29, 2005 - 08:18 am:

mine were 6 1-1/2 and 7pds 3 oz. my mom says oh is that why you didn't want a third lol because of the difference i was like well that's one of the reasons lol i was i think 9pounds 1 oz and it was funny when my mom went into have my sister 7 years later they gave her an epsiotomy(sp?) and she says why are you doing that for i had a 9 pound baby without one lol = ) i guess things changed in 7 years lol = ) i was scared with both of them of course i think maybe more with the second because i knew what it was all about lol = )

By Latonya on Friday, April 29, 2005 - 08:58 am:

mine were #1 dd 7 lbs. 13 ozs, #2 ds 7 lbs. 4 ozs. , #3 ds 7 lbs. 4 ozs., and #4 ds 6 lbs. 9 ozs. With all of the boys I was as big around as I was tall and I am only 5' 2" but I was huge.
It was mostly water. Dont worry, it will be fine!!

By Mom2three1968 on Friday, April 29, 2005 - 09:15 am:

mine were #1 ds 8lbs 12 ozs, #2 dd 4lb 7 ozs, #3 ds 9lb 13ozs. My first son tore me, and i needed stitches. My dd was premature. Last son I guess I was already stretched and I didn't rip with him!! My dil was due Sunday, she has had several false alarms and then nothing. We have an appt on Monday, she will be a week overdue, they're going to give her a stress test. You'll be alright, you can do it!!!!

By Tunnia on Friday, April 29, 2005 - 10:00 am:

Try not to worry too much, your body was designed to do this and, no matter how much your baby weighs at birth, once you hold her in your arms it'll all be worth it!:)

My 1st (dd) was 5lb 14oz and my 2nd (ds) was 7lb 9oz. Even though ds was almost 2lbs larger than dd I didn't have any problems with the size difference. The labor with ds was 5 hours (4 1/2 hours shorter than with dd) and I didn't tear or have an episiotomy with either. The only thing that took a bit more work was pushing--I had to push three times with ds while I only had to push twice with dd.:)
