Ladies, please tell me when you were able and this is gross I know but able to have your first bowel movement. I have been taking my stool softeners, drinking lots of fluids I even tried some metimusil. So far no luck, I am really getting frustrated, am I expecting too much too soon, or what?? Aside from that I have alittle mucus in the back of my throat and this makes me cough, and also there is some pulling in and around the stomach area when i make too sudden of a move. All this I can deal with but not being able to go to the bathroom, I dont know about that. Anything you can suggest that worked for you??

I have never had that surgery, but a friend did and she had the same problems. She just kept it up and eventually she did go. And when they worked, she really got cleaned out if you know what I mean!! LOL Are you uncomfortable because of it yet? If so, maybe call your Dr. If not, I would just keep doing what your doing. Maybe try some prune juice too???

I don't recall how long it took, but it was a few days I am sure. The key is moving around, walking works those muscles and helps things work. I had my surgery when my first born was just 3 weeks old, all i remember is just how awful I felt. It was easily 3 weeks before I felt mostly like myself.

I didn't have that trouble when I had my gallbladder out, but I DID have it with my c-section. It was at least 3 days for me, although I wasn't taking anything other than fruit juices to help. Acidic fruit juices are a natural stool softener/laxative, maybe you could try those? Apple juice, orange juice in large glasses as often as possible. I just don't think water does the trick after surgery.
The pulling on your incisions you will feel for a couple of weeks, although it will get easier and not be such a big deal anymore.

thanks again, I went out and got some milk of magnesia. And some prune juice. Hopefully this will help. My incisions are pulling but there is some pulling inside as well. Oh well, I'll feel better soon enough. I am walking and going up the stairs. I'll work it out eventually!!
