Flower experts help!! Maybe Bea

I am looking for a particular tree for my yard. I have always thought that these trees were called weeping cherries, however, when I look online they are in full bloom and I can't tell if this is the actual tree.

The tree I am looking for has branches that grow downward. I have only noticed them in winter when they are not in bloom and don't have leaves on them. They are usually pruned pretty heavily during the winter.

Any ideas what it may be?

Probably a weeping cherry. Your best bet is to go to a local nursery or stop at the home of one you've seen and ask the homeowner about them.

Weeping Cherry

Wow, pretty!

we have a weeping cherry in our yard. I love it in the spring! It is so pretty in bloom, and just as pretty after the blooms fall. Although we haven't pruned too much, they grow very quickly.

Wow!! Those are gorgeous!!! I have a redbud, and rose of sharon, in my yard, along with a red maple. I would love to have one of those!!

We have a weeping cherry. They are slow growers, so buy a larger tree. The branches droop like a weeping willow, but they blossom with soft lavender/pink flowers in the spring. The leaves are elongated, dark green and glossy. They produce no fruit.

There are many weeping trees grown today. I even have a weeping holly. There are weeping apple, plum and peach trees. They are all lovely. Go to your local nursery, and ask to see what they have. They should be in blossom now, and will give you a good idea of how they'll look in your yard.

I saw a weeping holly at Lowe's today and it is gorgeous too! I am redoing my whole front lawn. Our house is 16 years old and I think the original owners let the boxwood shrubs grow the whole time. Although they were shaped nicely, they were as tall as the front windows in my house. We got rid of them and replaced them with some azaleas, tulips, gladeolus, dianthus, snap dragons, and creeping phlox. I used dusty miller for the border. Maybe I will post some pics, if I can get some decent shots. I haven't been able to get any shots that do it justice.
