He was a great man. Watching his lifetime story on the news these last few days, it was obvious that from a young age he was destined for greatness. I am not Catholic, but my dh is & I think I took the Pope passing harder than he did.

The CBC had wonderful coverage. They went to the heads of the Canadian Jewish Congress and Canadian Muslim Congress for comments and both had tremendous respect for what the pope had done to bring the three faiths closer (apparently refering to Judaism as Christianiy's 'elder brother'). I had no idea.

It was strange to see the handsome, energetic, charismatic man he had been in his earlier years as pope. I'd gotten so used to seeing him as an ill older man that I'd forgotten what a dynamic person he was.
