Need some prayers!

Kaylee has to have surgery :( For at least the last 2 months she has had a really hard ball thing right under her shoulder blade. Well I noticed that it was growing so I made an appointment. When we went in today the doctor took a look and wasn't for sure what it is. He then called the surgeon to tell him what he had felt and what he thought about it. I then had to go to the surgeon's office and had him check her out. They both say they don't know what it is but they are worried about it so they both agree that it needs to be removed. They will put her under light anestisha (spelling?) and the surgery will take about 30 minutes and then we will be able to take her home. She will have stitches and a scar where they made the cut. After they remove it they will test it to see if they can find out what it is. My poor baby she is only 9 months :( Please send us some prayers or if you have any advice on what you think it may be or if you know of a specialist I should see since neither Dr. knows what it is. Thanks!

Many many prayers and good vibes to Kaylee, Shyan. I haven't ever heard of anyone with this experience. I hope it is nothing major. Try and stay calm and put your faith in her doctors. When is her surgery?

No thoughts as to a specialist other than a pediatric surgeon - i.e., a surgeon who has done surgery on babies. Have they thought about an MRI under light anesthesia first, or is that just not a practiable thing, given her age? I do agree that as it is growing it should be removed and biopsied. Lots of prayers for Kaylee and her parents. I am sure you are frightened half to death and I don't know anything that will change that until the surgery is over and done with and she is letting you know she is not a happy camper.

I don't know what it is but I can say BTDT. Timmy was not quite 10 months old when he had an abses (sp?) in his cheek within 12 hours his whole side of his face swelled up and when we went to the Dr they made me put him in the hospital we were there for 5 days they had to totally put him under and cut into his face to drain it and remove it then they had to pack it with gauze and he had to be watched for 3 days in the hospital. I will say this she will get allot of attention from nurses Timmy was a hit with the whole floor youngest one they had seen in a while they said.

What I am getting at by all of this is they are strong and can get through anything so don't worry. Be glad they caught it now and not later when it was larger. Good luck and make sure you take a book to get you through while she is under and recovering.

Sending hugs and prayers! It was hard sending my 12yo off for her appendix surgery, but she came through just fine and was back in her room about an hour-and-a-half later.

My brother had a lump in his neck. They weren't sure what it was either, and decided to have it removed. It ended up being a cyst. There were no sings of cancer or anything. It sounds almost the same to me about what she has. Like his, it sounds like it just showed up over night, and it just kept getting bigger. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers sweetie. Keep us posted.

We found out today that they will be doing the surgery April 13th. Thank you so much for the prayers.

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, March 30, 2005 - 07:57 am:

It very well could be just a cyst. I had a hard lump under my arm that suddenly got very large and painful. My doctor freaked and sent me to a surgeon. They scheduled surgery in 2 days and I was terrified. It turned out to be a *fatty tumor*, I forget the clinical name, but it was harmless. It may be something like this.
