Did you know Easter was so soon??????

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive March 2005: Did you know Easter was so soon??????
By Dana on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 11:54 am:

I was shocked when DD told me that Easter was happening during Spring Break. I know it usually happens that way, and I know I saw those words on my calander, but I had NO IDEA EASTER WAS SO SOON (Mar 27, that's next Sunday-not this Sunday-for those who don't know what todays date is)! I thought it wouldn't be here til April. Shoot, I didn't even think spring break was til April. Thank goodness I found out now so I can take care of making a basket. Poor DD would have been without one....shoot, I may have missed the holiday all to together if she hadn't said something.

Need to plan a dinner now. I just LOVE Easter dinner! :)

LOL Dana. I know what you mean. Easter to me doesn't feel the same if it is in March. I wish that Easter was in April every year.:)

The first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox (my oldest son explained this to me many years ago) EXCEPT (and I just read this somewhere) when Passover and what would otherwise be Easter week occur in the same week, in which case Easter is moved (I don't remember whether it is to a week before or a week after). The not being the same week as Passover was the action of some Pope of probably blessed memory who didn't want the two events to come in the same week. I've never quite figured that out, as it is clearly the Passover Seder that Jesus is celebrating in what we now call the Last Supper.

My dd could sure tell you - she's given up sodas for Lent, and she can probably tell you to the day how long it is until Easter! LOL

Yeap. Tonight was the last Lenten service and the last soup and sandwich supper. :( I like the liturgy we use for Lenten services and I LOVE the soup suppers, since I don't have to worry about dinner. 6 weeks goes by VERY fast. It is hard to believe it's almost Palm Sunday already.

Yes and I am sooo excited, there are so many cute little things to make. Hopefully it will be a nice decently warm day and we can play outside. :) I love Easter, and the girls are going on an egg hunt at my mom's work this Saturday too, so maybe they will get good at it by the big Easter egg hunt..lol

I can't wait for Easter Sunday, because my choir is going to be singing lots of cool songs!

Celebrate Jesus,
I Believe in Jesus,
Jesus is Alive,
Lord, I Lift Your Name on High,
Agnus Dei,
That's Why we Praise Him,
maybe Shout to the North,

and of course,

My Redeemer Lives

Wow, I think after singing all of these, I won't be able to talk much after church is over! LOL! We rock with My Redeemer Lives! LOL!

I love Celebrate Jesus, do you all sing it like Gary Oliver? He is awesome! I also love Agnus Dei.. we sing that at our church too. Easter will be wonderful. :)

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, March 17, 2005 - 10:04 pm:

Yes, I'm pretty sure we sing the Gary Oliver version.
