What's your weakness?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive March 2005: What's your weakness?
By Boxzgrl on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 04:51 pm:

My weakness is Victoria's Secret. I'm having a hard time staying off the website since the new Ipex bra came out. A friend got it and said she loves it and it feels like shes not even wearing a bra. I'm hoping I can wait until they lower the price a bit or until I get my $25/off coupon from my Rewards Card.

Anyways, what's your weakness?

By Karen~moderator on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 04:56 pm:

Digital cameras and equipment.............and silver jewelry...........and Victoria's Secret bras and panties.........

By Breann on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 05:04 pm:

Boutique custom made clothing for my daughter, and boutique custom made totebags for myself. I spend WAY too much on these things :(

By Trina~moderator on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 05:21 pm:

I have many VS bras and panties but will NOT allow myself to buy anymore! I was itching to check out the Ipex but couldn't get past the $45 price tag. Just the fact I was thinking about it made me realize I have to nip my VS weakness in the bud! LOL!

My other weakness is bathing suits. It's an exciting challenge to find a suit that fits well and looks good! I already bought 2 new ones for this year and have put myself on restriction. :)

Oh, and how could I forget my car seat fetish?! Don't even ask how many car seats I have in my possession, and I only have TWO kids!

By Palmbchprincess on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 05:39 pm:

VS happens to be one of mine, all of my underwear come from them. I was a bit ticked off about the bathing suit I bought, I needed to exchange the bottom and their returns cost $5, plus I had called to have them send the new one right away, and it took 6 days to even leave their warehouse. I put it on my Angel Card, and it was in stock, so I was pretty peeved it took so long. I think I'll stick to in store shopping from now on.

By Bea on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 06:11 pm:

Antique linens. I have so many that I'll never use. To me it's the idea of rescuing them and restoring them.

By Jann on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 06:13 pm:

Makeup!! I love it. Can not pass a Sephora without stopping in.

By Ginny~moderator on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 06:20 pm:

Books - books - books - and the internet.

By Kaleighsmommy on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 06:25 pm:

EBAY!!!!!!!! I'm completely addicted. I buy everything from clothes for me and Kaleigh to CDs to DVDs to toys to, well you name it. It's like a disease or something.

By Heaventree on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 06:34 pm:

CHOCOLATE!!!! and books, I thought I was a crafter however, I realzied I'm just a book collector!

By Eve on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 06:41 pm:

Whooo, yes, chocolate! That's a good one to have! :)

Lately, it's been Gymboree. A new store went in down the street from my DD's preschool. I find myself stopping in way too often. I go through phases when I don't like anything they have, but everything has been SO cute lately. I'm a sucker for anything pink! Shhhh...don't tell DH!;)

By Truestori on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 06:48 pm:

My weakness is Kohl's shoe clearance's! UGGHHH...I think I own 10 pairs of boots and wayyyy toooo many pairs of shoes. I mean how can you pass up $100.00 boots on sale for $15.00! LOL :)

By My2cuties on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 07:15 pm:

Clothes for my girls! I could shop oldnavy.com all day...lol I can't wait until the store opens up in town, I told DH it would be my second home if he couldn't find me go to Old Navy.:)

By Kate on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 07:29 pm:

Old, hardcover copies of Gone With the Wind.

By Ilovetom on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 07:58 pm:

Okay! Flip flops.

By Pamt on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 08:06 pm:

Just dropping in and had to respond. I got my "free panties" at VS the other day and tried on the IPEX and I didn't like it at all. I always wear Body by Victoria bras and usually a 34C. I tried on the IPEX and it cut across my boobs so that it looked like I had 4. The salesgirl told me that they were fitting funny, so I tried on a 34D (never a D!) and I still looked like I had an extra pair of boobs. I stuck with my good old standby...just pink instead. :)

My weaknesses.....quilt fabric and books.

By Brandy on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 08:56 pm:

Digital Cameras i'm trying to talk my husband into the canon 20d right this moment lol = ) i just went out and purchased a new flash for my digital rebel today too = ) i needed it though because we are supposed to be doing a wedding in October so i will actually "need" another camera now so i will be used to it by the time of the wedding lol = ) sounds good to me = )

By Reds9298 on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 09:04 pm:

Books and Victoria's Secret without a doubt (although now that we're on one income I can't shop as much as I'd like, yuck).

By Yjja123 on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 09:31 pm:

Art deco Sapphire jewelry--but that has limitations (lack of $$) :)
Bath & body works--love all body lotions and treat myself often. Hubby also loves them so that is an easy indulgence.
Used to love Yankee candles but now make my own. I frequently have a candle burning so that must be a weakness.
Books-books-books. I read daily and buy weekly. I love almost any kind of book but keep the books by Nora Roberts, Barbara Delinsky, Grishim, and any christmas stories.
OK I have A LOT of weaknesses LOL

By Ginny~moderator on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 10:04 pm:

Oh, I forgot chocolate - Dove dark chocolate squares.

By Brandy on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 10:17 pm:

I might have my husband talked into the new digital rebel xt coming out March 20 pray for me lol we tried out the flash we just purchased today and well i'm ticked at myself for not getting it about a week ago so i could of used it at my brothers wedding = ( alot of red eyes there (mostly at the reception though)...

By Missbookworm on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 10:39 pm:

BOOKS, BOOKS and more BOOKS ^^hence my name...I buy them constantly usually second hand though is my justification lol...I rarely pay full price for one....and sandals...I have wayyyy too many different pairs and styles for one person to own :)

By Cat on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 11:08 pm:

Thrift stores. I love a good deal! Problem is, half (well, most) of the time, I don't need the item! So I just stay away. Mostly... :)

By Conni on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 11:27 pm:

Shoes... I LOVE shoes. Its embarrassing what I will spend on a pair of shoes that feel good or look good. I am proud to say that MOST of my shoes come from clearance sales. But today I bought a pair of Ariat work boots full price @ $89 buckaroos. Tonight Dh said 'Those are REALLY cool boots!' So *thankfully* I wasnt in trouble or anything. rofl!!! whew!

I LOVE my chaco sandals and am already eyeing a new pair for this summer even tho I swore I could wear last yrs pair for 5 yrs or so after paying $90 for them. They form to my feet and feel soooo darn good.

My UGG's... uhhh well I love my slip on brown leather ones and welll uhhhh... I really have a SHOE problem. Dh thinks I need help.

Also... traveling. I LOVE to sit and dream up trips to go on. I dont have the money to go on them. But I am obsessed with planning trips. LOL I am a dork.

By Feona on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 06:41 am:

books for my son... ebay ebay ebay....

By Unschoolmom on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 07:42 am:

Books and toys. Esp. at used book sales and yard sales. We have soooo many toys. I justify it by calling them 'resources' for homeschooling. :)

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 07:51 am:

Conni..... I may have a *slight* shoe problem too! Especially sandals........I'm embarrassed to say how many pairs of shoes I've purchased this year.......already........But I have an excuse - or at least a justification - I have long, narrow feet, and it's hard to find shoes that fit, so when I do................... does that count?!?!?

By Conni on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 08:01 am:

Karen,

Those are the only 2 feet you will have. The way I see it, you should take *really* good care of them. lol So buy buy buy any shoe you can find that fits good/looks good. I do have alot of sandals and flip flops-- but they really dont cost that much if you find them on sale. These are some of my justifications anyway. :)

I am sure my dh wishes I would enter the VS store more than 2x a yr. ;) But it kills me to spend that much on bra's and night gowns, etc... I can only stomach it a couple x a yr. ;)

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 08:39 am:

Well, in my own defense, I almost always only buy shoes on sale - Famous Footwear carries my size and it's usually *buy one, get the 2nd one half off* there..... And I hit a sale at the Steve Madden store when my Mom died and shoes and boots there.....

I *wish* it would kill me to spend money at V.S.! Although, again, in my own defense, I shop their sales. Last summer when they had their semi annual sale, I got bras for only $9.99 to $14.99 each!

By Sunny on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 08:44 am:

Books. I really need a bigger house. I'd love to have one room devoted to books and have my own library. :)

By Lorebunde on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 08:47 am:

Designer handbags, skin care products, Love Sephora! Snickers and Reeses too.

By Bellajoe on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 09:24 am:

Target! I practically live there!

Clothes for my dd. She loves pink and princesses, it's hard not to buy stuff for her!

Chocolate and ice cream!

And I love SHOES also. But i honestly i don't remember the last time i bought shoes. We are on a buy when you NEED not when you WANT budget. I"m not too good at that tough. But i do NEED sandals for this summer so YEA!

By Janet on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 10:03 am:

BOOKS!!!
Also, I love vintage stuff from the 50s and 60s.. reminds me of my kidhood. I love the Little Golden Books from that era, and am constantly buying them at flea markets. :)

By Brandy on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 11:26 am:

I did it i got the digital rebel xt = ) i'm so happy = ) i also purchased 2 more flashes since we have 3 eos cameras they can go on now and i also got another compact flash card...I might go purchase another one today later on but i'm not sure because they are on sale for $36 reg. $52 at best buy...

By Pixie on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 11:34 am:

Ugh! Shopping in general is my weakness! SALES! But among my more trying things is denim, I spend alot on jeans, Lucky's, Diesels, BKE's. Anything that has to do with childrens shoes or clothes. Victoria Secret, and Costume type jewelry (fake). I also Love used book stores and kitchenware stores. I LOVE to cook. I recently purchased things to shape our eggs - I had circles now I have gingerbread people, heart, moon and stars. Silly yes but my children love it dearly! Oh and Candles. Maybe I should post anon, I sure wouldn't want DH to see this! LOL (I think my list maybe could go on) In my defense my handbags and shoes are usually really good sales!

By Sue3 on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 03:46 pm:

Red Licorice ,from the american licorice company only ( lol ) It`s good !
Magazines , shoes and good chocolate.Fanny may went out of business in our area .

By Reds9298 on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 04:05 pm:

You guys are making me think of more....Ghiradelli chocolate trolleys, gooey butter cake, and before my dd came my sole purpose in life was definitely to SHOP!! :)

By Rayanne on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 04:41 pm:

Target. I live there. I'm surprised that they haven't offered me a bed yet. LOL.

Clothes for my daughter. I think that I buy her something every time we go out.

Candis...I used to work at Old Navy. I love their clothes too. It's my favorite clothes store.

By Rayanne on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 04:43 pm:

Oh...I forgot to add chocolate to my list:)

By Tink on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 07:17 pm:

LOL I had the hardest time thinking about what weakness I have. I don't shop all that often. My kids have enough clothes but I don't go nuts. I don't do shoes, or jewelry, or VS. I finally figured out that I NEVER run out of jelly bellys! LOL We always have them in our kitchen and 5 of them can conquer any craving I might have for something sweet! I'm such a dork! :)

By Pixie on Thursday, March 17, 2005 - 12:23 pm:

oh i forgot about Target!!!!!!!!!

By Vicki on Thursday, March 17, 2005 - 01:05 pm:

I would say candles and high thread count sheets. I bought a set of 600 thread count a couple of months ago and they are heaven!!! Every time I see a higher number than we have, I buy them!! I even splurged and got dd a set and now she is in heaven too.... not good to be spoiling her on those already!!
