It's almost swimsuit season

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive March 2005: It's almost swimsuit season
By Rayanne on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 - 04:49 pm:

and I need one. Rylee starts her swimming lessons in May and I need a swimsuit. I still have a pooch and I HATE my legs. Can someone refer a swimsuit that hides it all? I've looked online, but nothing really catches my eye. I don't want a granny looking one (sorry, no offense), but one that covers me that is cute. Preferably a tankinie(sp?). I still have my maternity one and that fits, but I don't want to wear it. Any suggestions?

I like LandsEnd swim suits. They give you support where you need it.
They are a little pricey but worth it.Jmho.

I'm with you, sister. I HATE swimsuit shopping. I'd make a good turkey,(Big breasts and thighs, LOL) but that doesn't translate well to swimsuits. I've just ended a two week hunt for one, and I finally found a swimdress that I think is really cute. (It's black with purple polka-dots.) Not the sexiest one ever, but it shows off my cleavage, and covers up everything else! Dillard's is the only place I've ever had any real luck. And, although I did look online for some inspiration, I found nothing. Plus, I will not buy one online. They all look so different on. Just because it is my size, doesn't mean it will look good. (I had to prove this to my sister when we went shopping the other day...she can just order something and it fits, darn her!) Anyway, best of luck. :)

Many on-line retailers now have swimsuit guides to help you find a suit that flatters your body type. I've found that solid colors tend to show every bump and bulge. :( Prints and textured materials do well at hiding those. text description

I love tankinis myself and have several. :) I recently ordered this one with a 30% off coupon and love it! It suits my triangle body shape.

Have FUN shopping! Swimsuit shopping is something I love to do this time of year because it gets my mind off SNOW! LOL!

Argh! Of course I don't look like the model! LOL!

Trina, that's a great suit.

The best bathing suit I ever bought was from Land's End. It measured perfect and it is a perfect fit. Love it!

Melissa, where are the first two bathing suits from?

Our Walmart has really cute suits for girls, for $10. I just bought my two younger girls some last week.

I usually have good luck finding nice suits at sports stores such as Sports Academy and Sports Authority.

By Kate on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 - 06:13 pm:

Trina, where did that suit come from? Is it a skirt? Do skirts look funny in the water because they float? Are skirted suits popular now, I hope??

By Trina~moderator on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 - 07:03 pm:

Kate, that suit is a Jantzen and I ordered it from JCPenney.com. It cost more than I usually pay for a swimsuit but I had a 30% off coupon. :) Yes, skirted suits are now in style. I saw a couple moms wearing them last year and they were CUTE! Can't answer your question about them floating, sorry. LOL!

By Boxzgrl on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 - 07:10 pm:

Annie, they are from my 2nd home - Victoria's Secret! :)

By Trina~moderator on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 - 07:34 pm:

Boxzgrl, have you purchased any suits from VS? I have bought a few in the past and sent all but one back because I didn't like how they fit. They were the right size but just didn't fit well for some reason. Maybe it's me. LOL! Anyway, I now tend to avoid them for bathing suits.

I bought a new suit last year at JC penney that I really like. It is a jogger, has a fitted top and then a lined short on the bottom. Works great for me because I can just throw a shirt over the top and not feel weird stopping off at the store on the way to the river.

By Boxzgrl on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 - 08:36 pm:

Trina, i've bought one before but before I did I did all my measurements as shown in the catalog and it fit just right. :)

By Palmbchprincess on Wednesday, March 9, 2005 - 11:27 pm:

I just bought a tankini from Victoria's Secret, and it is the first one I found that hid the less than wonderful things and accented the good things. They are having a swim separates sale, you may want to check the site.

By Feona on Thursday, March 10, 2005 - 06:30 am:

I got one with an removable skirt. It is a tankini. with removable skirt. So the panties stay on. I like it. If I get hot off comes the skirt.

Also it has a built in bra - Macys had it. Dark blue too.

Jantzen was the name. I felt fine if anyone saw me walk to the car to the house in the shirt. I looked fine very modest.
