I'm taking my own advice and...

By Rayanne on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 10:03 pm:

calling a doctor tomorrow. I answered a post today about someone having pain in her right pelvis area. I have had a lump in my right pelvic area for a while now. I never told the doctor about it. I know, shame on me. It just never occurred to me that it could be something. Today, I was playing with Rylee in her tent and the phone rang, so I moved really fast to get it, but when I went to get up, this sharp pain hit me and I had to take a breather. I have gotten this same pain before, but only recently it has started. I am hoping that it is nothing. My neighbor said that it sounds like a cyst. Are these ok? Now I am scared, and hoping that I didn't put this off too long, but I seriously thought that it was nothing.

I get cysts all the time, in fact my gyn said most women do at some point in thier cycle. It does sound like a cyst, I'd be sure to get it checked out. If it's a cyst it doesn't mean it's a bad thing so dont stress just go to the doctor.

Alot of doctors will put you on the pill and it will disolve the pill.

(hugs) try not to worry, I know easier said than done though. Let us know what the doctor says when you get an appointment.

By Rayanne on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 10:11 pm:

Do you mean birthcontrol when you say "the pill"?
If so, then I used to be on the pill, but took myself off because it lowered my libido.
I don't want to go back on birthcontrol.

By Christylee on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 10:15 pm:

yes, you won't have to stay on it if that's what it is, the hormones in it disolve the cyst. I've been on the pill since after my son was born and haven't had any in a long while. In my younger days and pre-pill I used to get them quite often.

What side was the pain on, or was it more towards the middle?

By Rayanne on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 10:17 pm:

It's more towards the middle, but on the right side.

Why, is that bad?

By Christylee on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 10:23 pm:

no, no not at all... Mine were always on my left side to start out with so the very first one they had to rule out appendix. With you saying it's toward the middle but to the left your neighbor could very well be right in my experience.

Just call the doctor and see if they can get you in for your peace of mind. I've been told women get them all the time so don't stress. :) You could have had them all the time and this particular one got larger than before therefore causing you discomfort.

((hugs to you and call your doc first thing in the AM))

By Rayanne on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 10:26 pm:

Thanks sweetie. I will and I will let you know what they say. You are the best.:)

By Christylee on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 10:42 pm:

No problem at all! I'm off to bed now, let me know what they say... Nightie night.

By Andi on Thursday, March 3, 2005 - 10:49 pm:

I'm sure you will be fine but good for you for getting it looked at! Let us know what your doctor says. :)

My friend was on the pill for 1 month and her cyst was gone. So that is good news to know. She said hers was 3-4 cm long. Hope all goes well, and keep us posted. :)

I went for my GYN annual a few weeks ago and my doctor found an ovarian cyst. I went for an US last week and learned I actually have a cyst on each ovary. They aren't very big and so far haven't caused too much trouble, but my GYN wants to wait 2 more cycles and have another US. Cysts are normal, but there are different kinds and it's wise to keep an eye on them.

Although my doctor hasn't suggested it as of yet, I have read BC pills are often recommended as treatment. I would rather not go back on the pill. NO libido and perpetual PMS. Not fun.

Could be appendicitis or a hernia.........

By Rayanne on Friday, March 4, 2005 - 08:56 am:

I was thinking last night, and I have this for a long time. I even had it when I was on the pill. Do you think that it still can be a cyst? I think I had it before I conceived Rylee.

By Trina~moderator on Friday, March 4, 2005 - 09:02 am:

My GYN told me ovarian cysts are normal and come and go monthly as part of ovulation. It's when they get too big and/or don't go away when they cause problems and need to be monitored. If they become too big and painful and other treatments don't work they can remove them.

Rayanne- It was my post that you responded to! Thoughts and prayers to you!

By Rayanne on Friday, March 4, 2005 - 09:13 am:

Well, I just made an appointment for the 15th of March at 3:45. She had one for next week, but my lovely "Aunt Flow" is supposed to be here, so I don't want to go during that. I will let you all know how things go. Thank you for everything. I am still a little nervous, but I will try and relax.

By Jann on Friday, March 4, 2005 - 09:38 am:

You very well may have ruptured the cyst and that was the sharp pain you felt. Most women have cysts each month and never even notice it because they are sloughed off in your period. Good luck at your exam.

By Breann on Friday, March 4, 2005 - 10:09 am:

I've had cysts before. What a pain! At one point it hurt so bad for several days. I went into the doctor and he confirmed that it was an ovarian cyst. Within just a couple days the pain was gone.
The doctor said it's very normal to get ovarian cysts as part of the monthly cycle. If they become bothersome, then further investigation will be needed.

By Cocoabutter on Friday, March 4, 2005 - 02:14 pm:

Best wishes and good luck!

I went to the doctor yesterday and everything is fine. He definatley ruled out a hernia. He felt the lump, but said that it felt like a ligament. He did an internal exam and didn't feel anything either. He told me that if and when it starts to bother me to come in, because if it is not a ligament, then it could be endometriosis. He doesn't think that that is what it is, but he just told me to keep an eye on it. He said that this could be a good time to get pregnant again. I asked him if that was doctors orders and if so could I get a script to give my husband. He just laughed. I feel much better now, but Chris isn't ready for another little one yet, and honestly, I'm not either.

I'm glad you checked out okay! I was wondering about you, actually, as I remembered this post but it sure got buried! Glad you let us know how you're doing.

By My2cuties on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 11:09 am:

Glad your doing good, maybe your DH will change his mind...lol

By Rayanne on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 11:58 am:

Yea, another little one would be nice Candis, but Rylee is such a handful right now, I don't know if I could handel another little one just yet. I would like to have another one in about another year or two.

By Annie2 on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 - 09:28 pm:

Glad to hear everything is okay! :)
