My son will be six on the 17th and we are having a reptile guy come out on the 19th with snakes, turtles, and someother reptiles. I figured I would get the party started around 2 because the reptile guy will come over at 4. If you know of any great games, decorations, themes etc...please leave input! LOL TIA :)

Can my Griffin come, too? LOL. He's my little reptile expert. His dream is to one day own his own lizard pet store. LOL. :)

One thing done at a party my son attended was to make bug boxes. It had wood on three sides, clear plastic in the front and a wooden lid that would slide on and off. The kids were out there hammering and putting it together. Granted, this family has a workshop with huge work tables, so they were set up for it. But it was a huge hit, and to this day (that party was 1.5 years ago) that is the bug house of choice for all the little boys who attended the party.

For Griffin's birthday last year, I made a rectangle cake. I decorated it with brown sugar for sand, blue piping gel for water and I used edible clay to make rocks. Then we got small plastic lizards and put them all over the cake. This was all Griffin's idea for how to do it and he designed the layout and did much of the decorating. It came out very cute and was so easy.

Another cake idea is to make a tube cake, cut it in thirds and then rearrange it and make it look snake like. Family fun has an alligator cake made like that. You could do limbo under a play snake. You could do a small snake hunt, buy some of those cheap little plastic snakes and hide them everywhere. ONe of the games my children love at parties is where you take a box and pass it, play music, when it stops the person holding the box is out, but they pick a wrapped gift out of the box. You could do this with a basket and play snake charmer music, if you can't find that you could find a high school player that plays the oboe to make you a quick tape! You could pin the toungue on the snake, or the tale on the turtle. You could make a maze on the floor with cardboard bricks or the like and have them roll eggs, to put them to the nest. hmmm, i will keep thinking.

wow! Kaye is good! I think it would be pretty easy for them to make their own snakes out of paper towel tubes or wrapping paper tubes. You can even fill them with a few beans and tape off the ends so they are rattle snakes.

Stori, you are amazing! You're having a REPTILE guy come BEARING reptiles?? And you're having a bunch of six year olds over two hours before the creatures even arrive?! You qualify as Mother of the Year in my book!! The others had great ideas. Do they still make those Jello jigglers thingys where you make your own gummy bear type foods? You could make snakes and such. Speaking of gummies, don't they make gummie worms? They could make their own sundaes or something with them. Good luck! Make everyone wash their hands thoroughly afterwards!

Make dirt cupcakes! Crumpled chocolate cookies on top, with gummi worms in the "dirt" You could mhave them make clay snakes, or you could make some ahead og time for them to paint. Turtles to be made out of rocks, paint their shells on. Hmmm... I know I could think of more, give me some time to think about it this afternoon and I'll post again. :)

A turtle pinata would be neat. How about a fishing game? Attach magnet tape to some small snakes and lizards (Wal-mart has a pack of snakes, lizards, frogs, and another creature for about $2) and tie a rope to a stick with a paperclip on the end. You could do a theme like the croc hunter guy on Animal Planet (Steve Irwin I think), get little straw hats and go on a "hunt" in the yard. Hide little creatures, and give hints or just let the kids search around. Ok, I'm tapping out now, snakes gross me out, I'm out of ideas!
