I am going to buy some new pots and pans I am so sick of having to buy them every few months because the teflon starts chipping. Anyone have good luck with theirs and want to share the brand name...? I cook sooo often that it really doesn't make sense to buy the cheap stuff, I have just came to that conclusion. I am going to buy some for myself next week...

and I use plastic cooking utensils not metal.
Any suggestions???

TIA

My neighbor is a chef and highly recommends Wolfgang Puck pots and pans. They are suppose to last forever. I don't have anything fancy or worth mentioning now but I plan on getting Wolfgang Puck when I do upgrade.

I hear Pampered Chef is great but at > $100 a pot, it's too rich for my blood.

We use calphalon, the only downside is they are not supposed to go in the dishwasher.

By My2cuties on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 - 08:26 pm:

no problem I don't have a dishwasher, and I noticed the ad at the top is for Wolfgang, Melissa. Pretty cool. I will have to check it out. :)

Candis, on WP's website, they have a 28 piece set on sale for $199.99. That seems like a great price to me!

Anyone else have experience with Wolfgang Puck?

I love my Revere ware. They are the ones with the copper bottoms. They are extremely durable. Sometimes I may have to soak one for an hour but they usually clean up sparkly clean in the dishwasher. I do clean the bottoms every so often with copper cleaner but it is not necessary really, since I store them in a cabinet, not hanging. Some of my pots are actually from my mom amd MIL's collections. They do stand the test of time. :)

The only pan I have which is Teflon coated is my huge frying pan. Making sure that only soft utensils are used on it helps alot. Making sure my dh and dd adhere to this is extremely important in keeping it scratch free.

I looked and they have a stainless steel 16 pc. for 109.99 that is awesome!!

I also love my Revere Ware

I guess the thing is I need to get a stainless steel set instead of a teflon set and I will be okay. I wonder though how do you get your food to not stick on a stainless steel pan. like I make fried eggs and I don't like to break the yolk. Any helpful hints??? Or are some stainless steel pots and pans non-stick?

I've had T-Fal cookware for close to 10 years now, and it has a lifetime guarantee - I have had no chipping or flaking whatsoever, it's *very* affordable, and the one time a part of a lid broke, they sent me a new lid free of charge within 10 days of my request.

Macy's brand "Tools of the Trade" are excellent. I've never had to replace one.

To keep eggs from sticking always use Pam.

I just saw smarter bargains had cusinart for about 129 dollars and 79 dollars 9 or 8 piece set.

I think all teflon you have to replace.

I got an anodized set from Betty Crocker and just love it. It's got the non-stick of teflon but is suppossed to hold up.

My pots are Calphalon. They are fantastic, but I have to hand wash them, which is a pain. They are non-stick inside and out, so it's not hard. I just would rather throw everything into the dishwasher. I've had them two years now and the teflon is perfect.

We use Calphalon also. You do have to hand wash, but I've never put pots and pans in the dishwasher anyway. Definitely don't use metal utensils on Calphalon.

I have All-Clad Stainless Steel, and I love them, but they are expensive. When we were first married I had a T-fal set and most of it only lasted a year, so then we started buying All-Clad-it took a while to get used to using the stainless steel (versus a non-stick surface), but I love it now. For cooking eggs and other delicate things like pancakes, I always use a non-stick skillet.

I LOVE my cook's essentials from QVC. I have the hard-anodized myself, but I also hear the stainless steel from them is great, too. Check it out at QVC.com. WAY more reasonable than calphalon and just as good. PS: T-Fal isn't good.

We have kitchen craft cookware. We bought it at an Irish festival, quite pricey but worth it. It has a lifetime guarantee and is made here in the USA!

By Agreen on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 - 07:30 pm:

i use the all-clad as well. I wash my non stick pan by hand, and use cooking utensil that wont scratch. I also keep a dish towel inside the pan when I store it, That helps to keep my other pans for scratching the inside.

One 10" Martha Stewart pan. My Revereware one was getting warped on the bottom.

One 12" Farberware fried chicken skillet. It's really deep and I think supposed to be used for frying chicken, although, I have never done that! I love that it's so big and can hold a pack of chicken or a pack of porkchops. It's huge and about 3-4 inches deep. I use it a lot!

8-qt stock pot, Reverware. Didn't always have this one. I use it a lot, too, especially for making soup stock, since it's so tall. It holds a chicken or turkey carcass nicely, for making soup. I'm not sure what I did, before I had it!

New Visions 5-qt Dutch oven. Nice gimmick with the clear pan and stuff, but it takes forever to boil water in it. Use it for making pasta. Wish I had a 5-qt Revereware Dutch oven. Stuff sticks to the glass bottom, too, and it doesn't with my RW stuff. It's my least favorite pan, but still has a purpose.

4-1/2 -qt Dutch oven RW. Love it, but it's too small sometimes.

Couple of Revereware saucepans in various sizes.

Wish I had All-Clad, although RW works fine for me.

I just got a Wolfgang set for Christmas & I LOVE them. The food tastes better, maybe that is because I enjoy cooking more.

My2cuties, I have SS Kitchen Aid. I spray Pam before cooking. I scramble eggs all the time in them. If some of the egg sticks it comes off easily with an SOS pad. I like them. My conplaint-- the SS LARGE skillet is so darn heavy I cant drain it without dh's help. My wrists and hands I think have arthritis so that may just be an issue for me, not everyone.

I do have a large skillet that is non stick from Wal-Mart -- I dont put it in the dishwasher and I only use wooden spoons. Had it a yr now and it still looks great.

We have looked at the Kitchen Aid non stick at Sam's and Dillard's. (they dont have them at my sam's anymore :( ) Anyway, I would like to have a set of those too!

Teflon pans are toxic. When the pan gets hot the teflon allows the glue which keeps the teflon to the medal to seep through. Just a btw! I use to use teflon everything. I had PAMPERED CHEF but was not impressed at all. The pan began to warp and the handles ALWAYS became loose. They are also very thin and light weight.

I finally invested in FOREVERWARE!! I love love love them. It is made with 7 layers of steel. Sergical steel is on the top, which is non toxic and distributes the heat perfectly. They stay shinny and are fairly easy to clean. They also have a valve on the lid. They are known as a waterless cookware. My cooking time has decreased significantly because they hold in the heat! Also- the food is 10x better since I threw out my teflon pans.

oh- I paid $350 for a whole set including steamer, etc...
good luck
