I got my GTT results back...

and my sugar is fine but my iron is low so I have to take an iron pill. I have always had this problem when I get pregnant, so I eat a steak a week and I am fine, I hate taking extra pills. I never would have known either bacause I am not weak, I am cold all the time but check out the weather who wouldn't be? I eat chicken and no beef at all, I wonder if that is why I am low..hmmm...

I am another who is chronically anemic. My doctor has told me for years to eat more beef, and I mostly eat chicken. She also has told me numerous times to take iron supplements, but I can't stand burping them, so I rarely do.

Great news about your GTT though!

Glad to hear you passed the GTT test! It's pretty common for women to be anemic during pregnancy. I had to take iron pills 3x a day with both kids. Never had problems otherwise, only when pregnant.

Make sure you eat your iron rich food (spinach is a great source) w/vitamin C. It helps your body absorb it.

If you are not a big beef eater try spinach lasagna.

Glad to hear that the GTT came back okay. Anemia is much easier to control. One less thing to worry about while your pregnant. That only leaves 999 other things, right? :)

Good news! The only thing I'll say about taking iron supplements is that it can case constipation and might make you queesy. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

That is grrreat news:)

I am going to try the spinach, I hate iron pills they are nasty but I have them. I guess this means I will need to drink more water and eat more fiber to keep from getting constipated..ugh.
