Boston Question-Museum of Science or the Aquarium?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive February 2005: Boston Question-Museum of Science or the Aquarium?
By Fraggle on Thursday, February 24, 2005 - 09:03 am:

Depending on the weather, we will be heading into Boston either Friday or Saturday. We had been planning on going to the Aquarium, but a few of my friends recommended the Museum of Science instead-I haven't been there since I was a teenager. So, what do you think? The last couple of times I have been to the Aquarium the crowds have been unbearable, but I don't know if the Museum of Science would be any better.

Museum of Science..No question! The Aquarium has gone downhill and has lost their accreditation and a lot of their creatures. Check out what's playing at the Omni Theater, the shows are pretty good (unless you have vertigo).

It's going to be crowded though, it's vacation week. The museum is bigger though, so even though it's crowded it is bearable. GO EARLY!!!

Wow, that is too bad about the Aquarium. I have been checking into the MOS and there is a show on Migration in the Omni theater that my DD's would probably like. That theater freaks me out, but the shows are always so good. I wish we could get there early, but since it takes us about two hours to get there, we will be lucky to be in by 11:00. Have you eaten the food in the MOS? I am so picky about fast type food and usually we pack lunches wherever we go, but we are trying to pack light for this daytrip. I'm hoping to avoid bringing the stroller. My oldest DD will be fine, but my 3 yr. (almost 4 yr.)old can get cranky.

I am picky about fast food too. They have a wide variety of food at the museum and you should be able to find something for everyone. They might rent strollers and at any rate you can park in the garage right at the museum and run out to the car if needed.

We took our kids to the Museum of Science this summer and they still talk about it! We had a blast there. As for food, Colette is right-they have a huge variety. You won't be disappointed going there! :)

Thanks, Colette, I feel better about lunch. Now, I'm trying to find somewhere to eat for dinner. I don't know this area of Boston at all. My DH has stayed in hotels in that area for conferences and he said the Galleria Mall is close, so we may eat dinner there. The Cheesecake Factory is there and the California Pizza Kitchen. I haven't been to either, but the menus sound like they have a little bit of everything.

Thanks, Melanie. I was typing as you were posting.:)

What about stopping someplace on your way home for dinner? Like Newburyport? That way you don't have to deal with the traffic.

By Fraggle on Thursday, February 24, 2005 - 10:27 am:

I was thinking about that but it will depend on DH. He gets super grumpy if he is hungry and probably won't want to start driving until he has eaten dinner.:) I guess it will depend on what time we get there, too.
