I am making Rylee a CD with some songs on it. They are either from me to her or from Chris to her. So far I have:

You'll Be Blessed~>Elton John
Baby Mine~>Allison Krauss
Somewhere Out There~>From Fival
Daddy's Girl~>Peter Cetera
Butterfly Kisses~>Bob Carlisle
Somewhere Over The Rainbow~>Faith Hill
You'll Be In My Heart~>Phil Collins
Come With With Me~>Phil Collins
I Hope You Dance~>Lee Ann Womack
In My Daughters Eyes~>Martina McBride
Then They Do~>Trace Adkins
Forever Young~>Rod Stewart
Let Them Be Little~>Billy Dean

Can you think of some more to put on there? I might make two if I have enough songs

Your Whole Life Long--Twila Paris on Bedtime Prayers

I have prayed this song over dd so many times. Our pastor recommended when dd was only a couple of months old. I love it.

By Cybermommyx4 on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 07:51 pm:

There Goes My Life (can't think of the name of the artist)

By Colette on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 07:56 pm:

Isn't she lovely by Stevie Wonder. I always think of my first dd when I hear that song.

By Tink on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 08:08 pm:

There's a new song by John Meyer that's called "Daughters" that is getting a lot of airtime around here. You might want to listen to that.

By My2cuties on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 08:11 pm:

Oh Colette I love that song!!! My dh is a big Stevie Wonder fan. I still cannot think of any good ones. And that song there goes my life is good too by Kenny Chesney:

All he could think about was
how I'm too young for this
I've got my whole life ahead
hell I'm just a kid myself
how am I gonna raise one
all he could see were his dreams
going up in smoke
so much for ditching this town
hangin out on the coast
oh well...those plans are long gone

and he said
there goes my life
there goes my future
my everything
might as well kiss it all goodbye
there goes my life

couple years of up all night
and a few thousand diapers later
that mistake he thought he made
covers up the refrigerator
oh yea..he loves that little girl
mommas waiting to tuck her in
as she fumbles up those stairs
she smiles back at him
dragging that teddy bear
sleep tight
blue eyes and bouncing curls

he smiles
there goes my life
there goes my future
my everything
I love you daddy goodnight
there goes my life

she had that honda loaded down
with abercrombie clothes
15 pairs of shoes
and his american express
he checked the oil
slammed the hood
said youre good to go
she hugged them both
and headed off to the west coast

and he cried
there goes my life
there goes my future
my everything
I love you
baby goodbye

What a play on words...I love it!!

Miracle by Celine Dion....you will bawl your eyes out when you hear that! I'm going to print it up, matte and frame it for my dd's room.

By Ilovetom on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 09:10 pm:

Aww.. I love the one by Five For Fighting. I think. Ninety Nine or something. LOL.

By Boxzgrl on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 09:12 pm:

Kenny Chesney sings "There Goes My Life", I was going to mention that earlier but forgot the song name, lol!

By Annie2 on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 - 09:19 pm:

Add your wedding song, too :)

I always liked Carly Simon's version of "Itsy Bitsy Spider".

By Rayanne on Friday, February 25, 2005 - 09:28 am:

I love that song "There goes my life" I just never thought about using it because of how it starts out. It makes me cry every time.

I haven't heard the songs "Daughters", or "Miracle" yet. I'll have to try and find them.

Yes, the song 100 years is awesome.

Thanks to all of you. If you think of any more, let me know:)

Daughters Lyrics
Artist(Band):John Mayer
Review The Song (16) Print the Lyrics

I know a girl
She puts the color inside of my world
and she's just like a maze
Where all of the walls all continually change

And I've done all I can
To stand on the steps with my heart in my hand
Now I'm starting to see
Maybe it's got nothing to do with me

Fathers be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers be good to your daughters, too

Ooh, you see that skin
It's the same she's been standing in
Since the day she saw him walking away
Now she's left cleaning up the mess he made

So fathers be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers be good to your daughters, too

Boys you can break
You find out how much they can take
Boys will be strong and boys soldier on
But boys would be gone without warmth from a woman's good, good heart

On behalf of every man, looking out for every girl
You are the god and the weight of her world

So fathers be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers be good to your daughters, too
So mothers be good to your daughters, too
So mothers be good to your daughters, too

Isn't she lovely
Stevie Wonder

Isn’t she lovely
Isn’t she wonderfull
Isn’t she precious
Less than one minute old
I never thought through love we’d be
Making one as lovely as she
But isn’t she lovely made from love

Isn’t she pretty
Truly the angel’s best
Boy, I’m so happy
We have been heaven blessed
I can’t believe what God has done
Through us he’s given life to one
But isn’t she lovely made from love

Isn’t she lovely
Life and love are the same
Life is aisha
The meaning of her name
Londie, it could have not been done
Without you who conceived the one
That’s so very lovely made from love

Jimmy Buffett- "Little Miss Magic". It's a beautiful song he wrote about his 1st daughter! I danced with my Dad to it at my wedding!
I don't know if I would use the John Mayer song as it is about a father leaving his family and how it affects this girls relationships wiht other men the rest of her life!

By Rayanne on Saturday, February 26, 2005 - 12:22 pm:

Ohhhh, I love the song, "Little Miss Magic". I can't believe I didn't think of that one. Thank you.

I didn't know about that with the John Mayer song, thanks for telling me.

I think it's by Dan Hill (?) called something like "unborn heartbeat"....that might be a good one to put at the beginning, to let her know how you and DH felt about her BEFORE she was even born :)

True Colors - Cyndi Lauper

By Rayanne on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 - 09:54 pm:

I thought about that song, but wasn't sure about it. I am glad that you thought of it too. I might use that one too.

By Rayanne on Tuesday, March 1, 2005 - 10:13 pm:

Wendy, I can't find the song that you mentioned. Is there any way that you can find out who sings it and what the title is? I would greatly appreciate it. TIA:).

By Cybermommyx4 on Wednesday, March 2, 2005 - 12:34 pm:

I just heard it on the radio the other day, after I had seen your post - I'd heard it before, but this time I realized it would be a great one to put on a CD for a child. :)

It's by Dan Hill:

Unborn Heart

When she told me
She was gonna have a baby
A part of me went weighless
For the first time in my life
There was nothing I could say
It's like a miracle from the stars above
Paralized with fear
I was overcome with love

She said soon you'll hear the beating
Of an unborn heart
This is the answer
You've been searching for so hard
And for the first time in my life I felt
The wave of love so deep
As I listened for the unborn child's heartbeat

I said something stupid like, how are you feeling
She smiled the warmest smile I've ever seen
Ohhh, I guess that said it all
Now were a far cry from the storybook romance
Something in her eyes, made me crumble
I reached out for her hand

She said soon, you'll hear the beating
Of an unborn heart
This is the answer
You've been searching for so hard
And for the first time in my life I felt
The wave of love so deep
As I listened for the unborn child's heartbeat

Now we all know how crazy
This world can be sometimes
And I lie awake at night and wonder
How a child survives
Beyond the danger in the strangers
And the inhumanity
Lord give us strength to someday find a world that lives in peace

Ohhh

Soon, you'll hear the beating
Of an unborn heart
This is the answer
You've been searching for so hard
And for the first time in my life I felt
The wave of love so deep
As I listened for the unborn child's heartbeat

Ohhh, I can almost hear the beating...
