Movie Basket

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive February 2005: Movie Basket

Our kids school has a big carnival every year to raise money for the PTA. Each class does a basket that is auctioned off. This year my older dd's class is doing a "Movie" themed basket. I know that we can do movies, gift certificates, popcorn & candy, etc. I want to donate something very cool. I thought maybe I would donate a DVD player. What are some other cool ideas? These basket raffle off for a couple of hundred each ($200-$400) What are some creative ideas that are different and not the standard same ole same ole?

Movie related toys or books? Like a Scooby DVD with a Sooby toy, just as an example.

How about the 'Screen It' game? That game uses DVDs and requires a DVD player. You watch movie clips as part of the game.

Movie posters from popular movies (ex Harry Potter, Spiderman), Dominos pizza gift card, soundtracks to go with movies that have great music, 3 month subscription to Netflix, vhs rewinder (if any of the movies are on vhs), specialty popcorn salts, butters, oils, etc.

You could also get a big book of movie reviews to help people select movies to rent. You know, a book of all movies that explains what they are about and rates them, including appropriateness for kids as well as whether or not the movie is any good!

For less than $30 at Amazon you can buy THE classic movie....I believe it's a top 5 movie EVER, Gone With the Wind. This newest DVD release has FOUR discs, including the AMAZING 'The Making of a Legend' which describes in detail (over two hours of detail) the making of this historic film. That alone would interest any movie buff, whether or not they liked GWTW. The set also includes interviews with surviving cast members, screen tests of the actors, etc. etc. It's awesome! (trust me....I own four different GWTW movie sets) Oh, it also comes with a replica of the program that was given out at the Atlanta premier....what else? I don't remember....I had managed to get my hands on most of what it offered already, so I'm not remembering this particular set that well. But look it up on Amazon. It's a great deal.
