Fun Ideas Needed!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive February 2005: Fun Ideas Needed!
By Eve on Monday, January 31, 2005 - 01:44 pm:

We are going on a cruise soon and I wanted to put together a little tote bag for my Mom and my sister. I found the perfect bag for a great price and now I am looking for creative ideas of things to put in it. This bag will be for the pool.
bag

I already bought little tiny water pistols to put in and word finds and crosswords.

I'm thinking:
cheap pocket size rain poncho
waterproof camera
lip balm

Can you think of anything else that is little and FUN? Thanks!

Ball caps, you could get them embroidered. Sun Hats, funky sun glasses, sun screen. Beach Ball. Fun girly magazines like Cosmo. Hope that helps a bit. Where are you going on your cruise and can we all come with you?

a small bottle of sun screen, a roll of life savers, a small battery powered hand-held fan, hand-held poker or solitare game, bottle of nail polish that changes color in the sun...HTH

Paperbacks, sun glasses...

What cruiseline? Some cruises allow you to buy gift certificates or drink credits.
Good book
Lotion
Small first aid kit (VERY handy on cruise)
Aloe Vero
Handwipes
Sunglasses
Small fan with waterbottle
ID badge holder with string (so she can put around neck instead of hauling everything)
Towel
Gum (none sold on cruise ships)
Cup hooks the suction kind they sell at dollar store. They are perfect for putting in shower and hanging swimsuits to dry

Eve,

You are so thoughtful. All of the ideas above are awesome. I hope you have soooo much fun.

*Don't forget the seasickness meds*

If the ship has them, buy a soda card for them. Since the prices are getting so low, the free amenities are vanishing. All I ever need by the pool is a cover-up and sandals to wear from my stateroom, sunglasses, sunscreen, a good book and a frosty drink. When are you going? Where are you going? Have a ball.

Yvonne's cup holder suggestion was great. There really aren't good spots to hang your wet suits on a ship. Bring several suits. They don't dry quickly and donning a soggy suit is miserable.

Playing cards?

Thank you all for your ideas! You have added much to my shopping list.

Cup hooks-- I would never have thought of that! That's a great idea!

We are cruisin' on a Carnival ship at the end of February heading to the Western Caribbean for 7 days. We're really looking forward to getting away.:)

Perfect, Ginny! I bought 'Old Maid' for Sydney, but never thought about for us! Thanks.

Eve I believe Carnival allows you to buy prepaid bar credits. If you plan on drinking this will save you a great deal of money.

PS seasick meds are always readily available and free. Just ask steward if you need them or go to front desk
