I HATE THE SNOW!!!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion Archive: Archive February 2005: I HATE THE SNOW!!!!
By Angellew on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 09:37 am:

OK... I've spent my whole life in New England and I should be used to it by now, but, I'm not!!! I HATE THE SNOW!!!!

After all was said and done from the snow storm, I ended up with 37" of snow!!!! 37" OF SNOW!!! That's just so wrong!!!! It looks like I live on the frozen tundra! There are 10 foot drifts and the river is completely iced over! The geese are skating!!!

I feel a little better!!! Thanks for letting me go off a little bit!!!

By Sunny on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 09:46 am:

Me too! :)

We only got a little over a foot - not nearly as much as you did, but it's still a pain in the you-know-what. First chance I get, I'm booking our vacation for this summer. Thinking about going to Florida is the only thing that will get me through this winter! LOL

By Amecmom on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 09:53 am:

I can deal with the snow. Where we live, it's no big deal. All the parking lots are plowed and so it our driveway, so it's nowhere near the mess it was in the city.

What I can't take is this single digit cold! We've ha -10! Not wind chill - straight temp!

I can't take a 4 month old out in such cold, no matter how bundled she is. This is the kind of cold that just takes your breath away!

So, we're stuck in the house.

I hate snow as well. That is why Im never planning on moving back to the Chicago area, where I spent 29 yrs of my life. Now, granted, it does snow here in Va Beach sometimes, not alot. I think Ineed to move farther south like to Florida, where I NEVER have to see snow again LOL

By Kernkate on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 10:37 am:

I am beginning to really hate the snow this week! Over the weekend we had a foot and now everyday it just keeps snowing and piling up. The kids are off school again today! Tonight we are getting 4 more inches, and we are running out of space outside to put it.
Spring isn't to far away smile4

By Colette on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 11:42 am:

Hate to break it to you Angela, but we are supposed to get another 6-8 inches tomorrow.

By Angellew on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 11:57 am:

AAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

(that was just me yelling at Colette's news!!!)

By Eve on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 12:05 pm:

Hang in there! It just means that that warm Spring weather will feel so much better when it hits!:)

By Trina~moderator on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 02:10 pm:

Longing for Spring already... *Heavy Sigh*

Wish I could be here!

I love the snow!!! Probably because I live in Texas and only see it once every 5 years if I'm lucky, and even then, it doesn't even cover the grass all the way. It actually feels more like March here today. I think the high is like 70 or something. Just wanted to rub it in!!! :)

By Angellew on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 04:19 pm:

Tara... that was mean!!! crying

By Trina~moderator on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 04:37 pm:

Tara,

I can't hear you! LOL!

By Cat on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 04:42 pm:

Well you all enjoy your snow. We've been in the 60's for the past week, with Saturday being the exception when it was about 45. We've even hit 70 a couple days. I'm sure we'll get hammered come March. :)

By Kaleighsmommy on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - 06:08 pm:

I'm sorry! I just couldn't help myself! Don't worry, come May, when it hits 100 degrees and stays that way until October, and when I'm near death from a heatstroke, you can get me back!

By Fraggle on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - 07:46 am:

I hate the snow, too! I lived in Peabody when the last big Blizzard of '78 hit-and I can remember sledding down our road for days because it just took so long to get it all cleaned up. This time we are further North in Maine so we only got----20 inches---- but it is still no fun to clean it all up. DH and I are already planning on what state we could move to to avoid winter.:) Yikes, it looks like you are going to get a lot more snow today. I feel for you.:)

By Karen~moderator on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - 07:50 am:

Tara, here in New Orleans it's the same! LOL

By Trina~moderator on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - 08:12 am:

NO SCHOOL today because it's snowing again. My, the kids are going to be in school until the end of June at this rate. Ug.

Fraggle, I remember the blizzard of '78, too! I was living in Dover, NH at the time and we were out of school for a week.

By Kernkate on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - 09:23 am:

The kids are also off of school again today! I don't think they have gotten a full week in in the past month.

By Eve on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - 10:22 am:

I think we had school today, but I'm not sure if they will get out early.

Am I the only one that thinks rain is more depressing than snow? I guess rain doesn't cancel school though!:)

By Kate on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - 10:32 am:

Yes, rain is THE worst, and I DO hate snow!! But rain just SOAKS you and everything else and the skies are so gray. With snow it can be bright skies and it's certainly very WHITE and clean looking!! But I still despise it.

By Colette on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 - 04:20 pm:

It's really ridiculous around here. There is just no place to put the snow. They are dumping it into the river which I am sure is just great for the environment. None of the sidewalks are plowed, the roads are barely plowed, the kids are waiting in the street for the school buses, it's snowing STILL and we had school today.

By Angellew on Thursday, January 27, 2005 - 10:02 am:

I'm back!!!! Another 8 inches!!!! On top of the 37 from the weekend!!!! That's a GRAND TOTAL OF 45" OF SNOW!!!!!

I HATE SNOW!!!!

By Kernkate on Thursday, January 27, 2005 - 02:31 pm:

OMG Angela and I thought it was bad here! We had snow 12 out of 16 days but not that much! snowflk
No more snow here till Mon and Tues. Thank God!
Just the bitter cold now until next week when it will warm up to the 30's, yippee!!!:)

By Angellew on Thursday, January 27, 2005 - 03:23 pm:

Isn't it sad that we are cheering about the temperature being in the 30s???? :(

By Andi on Thursday, January 27, 2005 - 03:59 pm:

That is why I love living in San Diego......I can't stand snow! :)

By Karefl on Saturday, January 29, 2005 - 10:48 pm:

I HATE snow too! That's why I live in Florida! :)

>>

Of course, with THREE hurricanes this year kids here spent ALOT of time out of schho too! We homeschool, so we were able to stay pretty much on track!

I keep begging you ladies to send the snow MY way!!! lol I can't imagine hating snow. But,then,in TN we don't get that much either. But I lived in Mich.in the early 70's,and we had tons of snow, and I loved it!!!

By Cat on Monday, January 31, 2005 - 09:03 am:

We have a snow day today!!! Not that we got that much snow, but what little we did get (probably only 3-4 inches at most) is blowing everywhere and the roads are icy in places. Our school district covers over 100 square miles, so it could be bad in some places, but not in others. I asked dh how the roads were on his way to work and he said clear. Oh well! I'm going to enjoy not having to get the kids out the door and just camping out here at home (with 6 extra kiddos!). :)

By Colette on Monday, January 31, 2005 - 11:44 am:

We have MELTING!!! Whoo hoo!! Angela - if you are still bumming out, buy some tulips or daffodils at the store. They help! I just bought 2 bouquets of daffodils and 2 of tulips and I have thoughts of spring dancing through my head....

By Kernkate on Monday, January 31, 2005 - 09:29 pm:

Wanda, how much snow would you like??? I would love to send you my yard full. LOL:)
Today we were in the 30's so some has melted.
Spring is right around the corner.:)

By Marcia on Monday, January 31, 2005 - 11:30 pm:

I'm not sure who checks the pics page, but if you want snow, I posted some of mine there for you!!! :o)

By Dawnk777 on Monday, January 31, 2005 - 11:59 pm:

With the last storm, we got 14 inches, but it's been warm since then, so it is gradually melting. My last look at Weather Underground, we weren't supposed to be getting any snow most of this week! So, come to WI!

By Angellew on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 01:23 pm:

Colette, you're right!! Thank you!

I bought myself a nice bunch of flowers and they look great and smell wonderful and put me in a great mood!!! :)

By Wandilu on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 04:15 pm:

I"d LOVE to come and visit ya'll and go sledding,or maybe have a snowball fight(but only if you don't throw too hard!!).For several yrs now,DH and I have been wanting to go to Vermont for Christmas.I have some brochures from there, and it looks SOOOO BEAUTIFUL,especially with all the snow and Christmas activities. But,we haven't made it yet.

By Bea on Tuesday, February 1, 2005 - 04:25 pm:

Wanda, if you get up there, go to the Stow area. I spent many ski weekends there when I was young. The Von Trapp Family (from Sound of Music) has a beautiful lodge there.
