By Kernkate on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 10:38 am:

Today here in NE PA the temp here right now is -2 with a windchill of -20!!! It hasn't been this cold here in a long time. And the roads are covered with snow and very slick. The kids did have a 2 hour delay and headed out to school at 10. I feel very sorry for any kids that have to walk to school today!

By Jackie on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 10:40 am:

Its 20 degrees here in Va beach. Last week it was 70.

By Karen~moderator on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 10:50 am:

BRRRRRRRRRRR!!! It's *cold* here in south Louisiana, but's it's all relative! LOL We had a freeze last night, i.e. mid to high 20's, but our highs will be 50's today. *This* is cold weather for us!

By Kathym on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 10:53 am:

It is up to 6 degrees here in north central WV...the kids had a 2 hour delay it is so cold! A warm up is expected but more snow is coming with it.

By Melanie on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 11:14 am:

Beautiful here! The sun is shining and we are supposed to get up to around 70 degrees! Woo Hoo! :)

By Cat on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 11:16 am:

We're supposed to get to 60 today. It's supposed to be like this all week. :)

By Mrsheidi on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 11:33 am:

Aaaahhh...I miss Colorado weather...it's a little known secret, but the sun shines SO much there. Most people think it's cold and snowy all the time, but the sun shines so much!
It's been cold cold cold here in MD...and we all have colds...ugh...

By Colette on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 11:36 am:

At lunchtime in Massachusetts it is 4 with a -13 windchill. BRRRRR!!!

By Ginny~moderator on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 11:39 am:

- 6 just NW of Philadelphia. Reminds me of Chicago, where I grew up.

Take consolation that you don't live in Embarass, Minnesota, where it is a -56, and that is not the record for northern Minnesota.

By Missmudd on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 11:41 am:

Its 57 on the oregon coast and I couldnt be happier. Gonna sprinkle a bit today but I dont care cause I am tired of being COLD. They would find me in a snow bank frozen in some of the places you folks are from, I just dont have an internal heater to keep me from freezing to death :)

By Brandy on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 11:50 am:

right now in Indiana it is 14 degrees i am inside and was all snug in a cover lol = ) taking out the trash to the alley wasn't very fun this am and feeding the darn 60 pound dog wasn't either lol = )

By My2cuties on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 11:56 am:

It is a beautiful day to look out the window but it is 17* outside. I'll be staying in most of the day. :)

By Bellajoe on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 12:37 pm:

o.k. i am packing up and going to CA to live with Melanie for the remainder of the winter!

It is freezing here in Ohio. It is 18 degrees. It keeps snowing off and on. Now that i have picked up my ds from preschool, i don't plan on going out again till the morning.

Keep warm ladies!

By Jelygu on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 12:46 pm:

35 degrees and very sunny and pretty, despite being cold. I'm not sure what the wind chill is, but it that wind just cuts through me.. BRRR.
It was 65-70 here like a week or two ago. I thought maybe we were going to skip winter altogether!

By Tink on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 01:02 pm:

We've got 46 degrees now and it will be up to 60 this afternoon. On Thursday, we are getting up to 66! I love living in CA!

By Marcia on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 01:02 pm:

It's -10 with a -35 wind chill. The buses were cancelled because of the cold, and I kept everyone home. Good day for jammies and tv. :o)
Luckily the sun is out!

By Eve on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 01:10 pm:

When I was driving to pick up my DD from school at 11am, my car said it was 9 degrees outside. Buur! It's very sunny and bright outside, so I'm not complaining. I'm solar powered.:)

By Debbie on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 01:52 pm:

Here in a Northwest suburb of Chicago it is 16 degress, but with the windchill it is -1. It has been miserable since last Thurs. We barely left the house all weekend. Gosh, I miss Texas.

By Pixie on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 01:52 pm:

6 degrees - something with winchill. BRRRRRRR! I hate this kind of cold.

By Palmbchprincess on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 02:26 pm:

Not too cold here, 52 is today's high. Of course, it's too cold for my liking, but I'm glad I'm not back East!!

By Missmudd on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 02:30 pm:

I was watching the cbs news this morning, yesterday in a place called Embarrass it was -54 degrees..... BRR... It had warmed up to 0 when they were being interviewed

By Veezme on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 04:43 pm:

Too cold here in NE PA . Poconos.Brrrrrrrr we didnt' have a school delay here though.

By Paulas on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 06:07 pm:

-27 here with a windchill of -32. But...on a brighter note...it's better than the -45 we had last week!

By Pamt on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 07:39 pm:

Currently 42, but in the mid 20s last night and expected again tonight. I was soooo cold all day at work. The hallways are nice and toasty, but my therapy room was FREEZING!!

By Agreen on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 07:40 pm:

The high in Connecticut reached about 12 today. i bet we are near zero now! It is absolutely freezing out! On days like this, I wish that we were having the heat wave we all complained about over the summer...

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 07:48 pm:

Warmer temps were offset by a brisk wind. Now, it's snowing and VERY windy, so I was really cold out there with the dog, even though the temp was 19 and about 20 degrees warmer than it had been. With the wind, you can't tell that it's warmer! ARgh. We are supposed to get 2-4 inches. Wind is 30 mph, with gusts to 39mph! I should have had a sweatshirt under my jacket!

By Laurazee on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 08:10 pm:

13 degrees celsius (warmish - 55 F I think) here in Vancouver BC with RECORD RAIN. We're expecting 300 millimeters (300! Not 3! Not 30! Three HUNDRED!!). EEK. Mudslides everywhere. On the upside, we don't have to shovel it.

Anyone having really unusual weather? I am wondering if there is any connection to the tsunami in Asia. You know that whole chaos theory concept around the butterfly effect? I wonder if however many millions of tons of water suddenly getting displaced is causing any other far-reaching effects around the world.

By Andi on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 - 11:36 pm:

It was 85 here today and BEAUTIFUL! I have the windows open in the house right now and it's 8:30 at night, because it's a beautiful night and I want to enjoy it!

By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - 07:08 am:

85? Well, no hope of that in WI, in January. This morning it's a balmy 26, but it feels way better than a subzero windchill!

By Colette on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - 07:12 am:

It's 2F at 7am. Might warm up to the 20's today. At least we do not have a wind chill today.

I really can't complain though. This has been a relatively mild winter for New England, so far anyways.

How many days til spring?

By Sue3 on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - 07:39 am:

LOL ,Colette.Thats what I have been asking. It is 20 degrees right now ,it feels like a heat wave because we have had
below 0 temps. for the last 5 days!
A lot of schools are closed today ,because of the high winds and drifting snow.
We are like the only district not closed today. The really bad weather is north and west of us (by the lake). It`s about the first time that G.R. schools were closed and we were not!
We are suppose to get a lot more snow by this weekend.

By Marcia on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - 09:05 am:

We're having a heat wave today. It's 10 right now. Not sure of the wind chill, but it's snowing and blowing.

By Hol on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - 01:08 pm:

Very cold. At midnight last night, it was 2 above zero. On TV, they were urging people to bring their pets in. We have a bunny in a hutch outside, but we bring him in if it goes below 20. My vet tells me that bunnies like the cold, and that heat is more detrimental than cold, but there's cold, and then there's COLD!

It is so sad; they are opening churches and schools for the homeless. I can't even imagine. Everytime I hear my furnace come on, I thank the Lord that I have a home, heat, lights, food. Anytime we grumble, we need to stop and remember how good we have it.

By Cybermommyx4 on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 - 01:34 pm:

-25 last night! Today it's about -2 (SO much warmer!) LOL! I just love the New England Winters....well, not really--but the other seasons more than make up for it :)!
