We have a really sweet friend!

A friend of ours who has recently gone through a really bad divorce (over 20 years marriage) came over tonight and while she was here she told us that she has a gift certificate to Longhorns that she wants to give us as a 'thank you' for "all we've done" and she wants to come over and spend the evening with the kids in the next month or so while we go out to dinner by ourselves. She is the sweetest person and we just love her and our children love her too. My dh told her that watching our kids would be too much like work (she's a kindergarten teacher) and told her that she should go with us, but she wants us to have a night alone. Isn't that just the nicest?

That is awesome! You are lucky to have such a nice friend. Have fun when you go out to dinner!

Friends like that are hard to find!

A person who has been through difficult times and still has it in her to be generous and say thank you for support is a friend to cherish - which you obviously have done and do. I'll disagaree with Jely - I don't think you are "lucky" to have a friend like this, you "earned" her with your support of her (though not everyone who gets support responds so graciously and generously, so that is probably the "lucky" part).

I agree with Ginny, there are only a couple people who really stood by my during my divorce, and I owe them the world. Enjoy your night out!

What a kind gesture! We have a similar situation with a friend who recently went through a divorce. We took her up on the offer to have her babysit while we went out. Since we were coming home late, her and her kids spent the night. The next morning we all got up, had a nice breakfast, and had a great time. We want to have them all spend the night again just for the fun of it!

Enjoy your night out and enjoy having a great friend. :)

She really is just about the nicest person you could ever meet and we feel fortunate to know her and have her as a friend. She is literally one of those people who never says an unkind thing about anyone, not even her ex! She is a one of a kind!

You have such a great friend, because you are such a great friend. You seem to be always supportive and understanding!!

My hubby helped one of his coworkers set up her computer and showed her how it works. In return, she paid for us to go to our favorite Italian restaurant and never see a bill. She came over and babysat the kids, too. We had a blast and the kids had a blast with her! It was nice!
