for the snow that is suppose to be on its way. But there isn't a flake yet.
They are calling for 2-4 inches and then ice.
I think they probably could have got in a half day,
but I guess the school figures better safe then sorry??

Our school was closed yesterday and today (I expect it to be closed all week) because of flooding!! We are getting more rain today and tomorrow and then temps are to take a nose dive, so all that flooding will freeze!! It is going to be a mess around here for quite some time I fear!!

Gees did I speak to soon. The roads are now totally covered all within a hour. The snow I don't mind its just the ice that will follow.
Vicki is the flooding really bad in your area?? And like you said if it all freezes you will have a mess.

We have a flood watch for tonight. It shouldn't affect us. We don't live near any rivers or streams. I know the sump pump ran yesterday and water came out, because Jasmine heard the noise of the water coming and went there to get a drink!

They NEVER close school here. If the temperature drops below -40 then the busses don't run but we, teachers, and town students are expected to be at the school. It's not safe for the busses but town kids and teachers can take the risk...can you tell this is a sore spot with me!!!

By Marcia on Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - 04:28 pm:

Ours very rarely close. We're a walking school, and the only bussed kids are in the special ed class. Two of my girls are in that class, so if they stay home, I normally keep them all home.

I am thinking we will have a delayed opening tomorrow. We are supposed to get snow tonight and then after midnight it's changing to ice. I just hope we don't lose power.

We are closed again today. We had 4 inches of snow yesterday and then turned to ice overnight. What a mess. It suppose to warm up today so hopefully we can get out and clean up the scow.

At 5:00 this morning our district called for a 2 hr. delay. Then at 8:15 they decided to CLOSE due to icy roads. The kids are thrilled! LOL!

We are closed again today for the floods!!That makes 3 days now, and I don't expect we will have it tomorrow or Friday either. It is a mess around here!! Dd was excited about it until I told her that this was likely her spring break!!

By Brandy on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - 09:44 am:

By Colette on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - 09:51 am:

Well, it didnt start here til about 5am and it was really light snow....so no delay, no cancellations...but now it is snowing quite heavily so maybe we'll get an early release.

By Lauram on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - 10:15 am:

I WISH! I'm at work now....

By Kathy on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 - 11:47 am:

We were closed today too. I wasn't expecting it. In fact, we were all ready to head out the door when I thought I should check the cancellations on TV. The girls were happy!
