Dishwasher/hardwater problems

My dishwasher leaves a strange white film on my glasses. At our old house this never happened....
i can't figure out if our water is harder here than in our old neighbourhood...or is it the dishwasher.....or is it the dishwasher tabs I am using (electrasol freshscent)......

I was using a different kind before but I can't remember what it was...

Also, if I look in the dishwasher at the element it is covered with a whitish hard deposit very similar to hard water build up...anybody have that and know how to get rid of it? I am sure the water would heat better in there if it was gone....

Does anyone use a rinse agent....maybe I should try because Dh is starting to complain that the dishes are dirty and he wants me to start handwashing(forget it).......

I don't have any advice but I feel for you. I have NEVER had a dishwasher that got everything clean.... and sometimes I get spots on all my silverware, even if I use a rinse agent and so-called "spot-free" detergent.

I have found that for me, the tabs don't work as well as the gel. Of course, that could just be my dishwasher.

I use Jet Dry in my dishwasher and every once in a while I run the washer while it is empty with 2 cups of white vinigar to clean it out. You can call the maker of the dishwasher and they will also tell you ways to get it cleaned and have it work better.

Run CLR or Lime Away through the machine according to the package directions. I had a similar problem and that helped

Are you using liquid or dry detergent? I know mine will leave that residue if I use the dry detergent and too much of it. I have switched to liquid and only fill up the soap containers part way. It's made a huge difference.

Hope this helps
