This year is a big one for me. Not only will my DH and I be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary, buy I will be turning 40 in September.

A few years ago I managed to lose 30lbs (yeah me), but these past few years, well...let's just say that I see that big 4-0 looming and I'd like to start off that decade of my life slimmer (and healthier) than I am now. I'm not looking to be the same weight I was 20 years ago, but maybe be the same weight I was 10 years ago? I'm also at higher risk for diabetes and know that if I can lose 20lbs (at least), it might help me postpone developing it, too. (2 of my siblings were diagnosed soon after they turned 40.)

So, that was a long-winded way of saying that I am trying to eat healthier and take better care of myself. DH and I are planning a long weekend together sometime this summer to celebrate both our anniversary and my birthday and I thought it would be fun to "walk" somewhere that I'd like to go. I'd love to go to Hawaii or Europe or Florida (or California or Canada, etc.), but finances will probably force us to stay local :(. Oh well, I'm "walking" to Disney World anyway, and hope to make it there by my birthday. LOL I'm getting the treadmill out of storage and will begin my long journey tomorrow. Only 1003 miles to go!

Welcome! I am new too and trying to lose some weight and be buff by summer (haha, I love using that word, not that I could ever be BUFF but anyway, dream...dream big!) Good luck with the Treadmill!

Well, I'm taking the plunge, too!

I've been doing well since right after Christmas. I've totally cut back on portions and I'm not snacking like I used to. And when I do eat a snack, I'm making better decisions.

I was regularly lifting weights till the beginning of December when we were in an accident, and I had to stop for a while. But, this week I started that again, and I am also riding my excercise bike daily, sometimes twice daily. I rode 17 miles yesterday! Yay!

I'm moving to Myrtle Beach somewhere between April and June and would really like to lose weight before moving to an area where wearing a swimsuit is a natural way of life! LOL!

My scale died several months back, so I need to get a new one. As soon as I do, I'll post my weight. My goal is to weight around 135. I think I am about 30-35 pounds away from that...

I'll jump in, too. I've been working on my weight off and on for about 9 months but I've been majorly sidetracked a few times with injuries and family stuff. I've got an 8 day exercise streak started and I'm working on losing 50 lbs. I'm running again and doing some weight- and resistance-training. My food choices still aren't the best but I'm going for smaller portions and I've eliminated most snacking.
