Transfatty acid connection in ADHD and Depression in women

Moms View Message Board: Let's Get Fit! (Weight Loss Support Group): Transfatty acid connection in ADHD and Depression in women

This is from a a long island group I belong too. I have to research it.

. Just a little note, my good
friend from college is a nutritionist and told me that they are
finding connections between trans fats, (ie. partially hydrogenated
oils or fully hydrogenated oils) and ADHD in kids and depression in
women. Unfortunately, it is a cheap fat and is found in MANY foods.
Even the chicken nuggets from Perdue have trans fats, I'm assuming,
in the breading. I was going to try to make my own stuff for a while
and see how time consuming it becomes.

I believe it, Feona! This last grocery shop was the first time I checked labels a lot. I didn't buy my usual Goldfish or Pooh snacks and granola bars. (I bought raisins, Tostidos and salsa, fresh fruit, Pirates Booty, Natures Valley granola bars)

I don't mind DD having treats with sugar, so I am trying to give up most of the hydrogenated junk. I don't even buy margarine! I was reading labels and just ick! (I think 'I Can't Believe It't Not Butter' doesn't have the transfats, but I don't know if it has coloring and such.) I'm just trying to make better choices. I'm not anywhere near perfect, but I'm reading labels now. For treats, I have been baking my own cookies. The nuggets are TOUGH to give up! We haven't been able to do that yet! My next thing to give up is the microwave popcorn that DD loves. Time to air pop!

Feona, if you find any good healthier alternatives, please let me know.

I put in adhd and trans fatty acid in google. Seems to be some sort of link.

I wonder if hamburgers have trans fatty acids?

I guess even the french fries are fried in trans fatty acids.
