Exercises for Thunder Thighs? Large Thighs?

Moms View Message Board: Let's Get Fit! (Weight Loss Support Group): Exercises for Thunder Thighs? Large Thighs?

Any exercises work for large thighs. My fat is all in my thighs. I always had it no matter what weight I was.

Feona,

Squats and lunges are great for the thighs. Leg lifts work great for the outer thighs. Lie on side with legs extended and prop your head up with arm. Now, lift your outer leg above hip level. Do 3 sets of 12. Also, for inner thighs. Stand with legs about hip width apart. Turn toes outward. With hands on hips for balance, squat down. (make sure you go as low as you can and keep back straight) Do 3 sets of 12.

I can do the leg lifts. My knees are a mess right now so I can' t so the squats or lunges...

Hmmm...have you tried an eliptical glider? It's pretty easy on the knees. Also, maybe Pilates? Do your knees hurt to walk? That would be a good start.

I walk 4 times a week. I get dizzy on the gliders. Pilates helps thighs?

By Debbie on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 - 02:34 pm:

Feona, walking is great for your legs. Can you manage some uphill walking??? If you can, that works even better, even if it is just a little uphill.

By Feona on Wednesday, August 20, 2003 - 06:36 pm:

I can do that in the fall. I can drop ds off at nursery school and there is a little hill near there.

Ok, this is a bit late, but I was just posting about pilates tonight and I think it does help thighs. There are some floor exercises that are pretty easy on the joints that isolate the inner and outer thighs. Hope you see this :)

I forgot to add that it's slowly helping mine!
