All grown up!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: All grown up!
By Jelygu on Saturday, May 26, 2007 - 09:45 pm:

My husband took Christopher to preschool on Friday. When they got out of the car, Chris held up his hand and said "Stop! Daddy, I am a big boy now, and I don't need you to walk me to my classroom. You can stand at the door and watch, but I can do it on my own. I know where to go!"
Oh my, does he think he is grown or what. I'm glad he didn't say that to me, as emotional as I am right now, I would have probably cried my eyes out! I teared up just hearing the story!

Awww, what a big boy! I think it would have made me cry, too!

By Bobbie~moderatr on Monday, May 28, 2007 - 12:13 pm:

I would have been crying also.

Every stage makes me sadder.. It just goes by way to quickly.... Makes me sad for myself and everyone around me that doesn't realize how fast it will go for them too.. To many, I wish I would have knowns running around in my head.. LOL Seems like yesterday that I sent DD off to preschool and next Sunday she takes her walk into adulthood... :(

Enjoy your big boy... He will be a man in the blink of an eye...

I have celebrated each milestone in the lives of my children with tears of pride and sorrow....

Bobbie, seems like yesterday that Sarah started kindergarten and in 2 weeks, she walks across that stage and leaves her childhood behind!

I know Dawn.. We had Callie's graduation party yesterday. I did a video/slide show for it.. Broke my heart putting it together. It goes by way to fast... To look at her birth pictures and to look at her now.. I have taken so much for granted.. So many times, I just wish I would have known what I know now.... Very proud of her....

As a child, the time between birth and graduation seems like an eternity... As a mother, it seems like a breath....

Exactly!

Dawn

That is so cute!

Bobbie, your last sentence is so beautifully said.

By Jelygu on Monday, May 28, 2007 - 10:01 pm:

I agree Bobbie, that last sentence is very well said!

Okay, now I'm in tears! Bobbie, that is so true.
Lara lost her first tooth this weekend. These little milestones are tough, aren't they? I remember the day that baby tooth came in, wasn't it just months ago, lol?
Hugs, Jennifer. I would have been in tears as well.

My girls will walk these school halls for the last time this coming year. It has gone by tooooooo fast!

There isn't a box big enough to put the memories in.

I was thinking, as I drove home from taking the kids to school, that when the leaves are changing, I will only be taking one kid to school. I got tears in my eyes.

I so feel for you Dawn.. Callie has been out of school since last week... Taking Dillan to school by himself has been hard.. They will all be out on Monday.

I can't imagine, the end of this summer and going through my must buy check list and not having a list of stuff to be checked off for Callie.. I am afraid I may just get her stuff, just for my own inner peace.. It is so hard to just stop doing something you have done for years and this feels like one of those moments where your mind says you are done but your heart says NOT YET!!! My focus has been to push her through and now it her time to take everything I (and her education) have taught her and truly start applying them in her adult life and take the reigns and push herself through.. It has all happened way to fast... I now have my self crying... What a bunch of bunk... Enjoy your children, they WILL be grown before you know it. That isn't just a saying, it is a fact... 18 years is just to short...

By Dawnk777 on Friday, June 1, 2007 - 11:51 am:

It is! We'll probably buy her paper and notebooks and stuff, when it's on sale in the summer, but I haven't had a "checklist", since they were in middle school. It's easier for the teachers to just tell them on the first day of school, what specific stuff they might need, for high school.

She needs to buy bedding for her dorm room, though, and some towels and washcloths, though!
