He's up again, throughout the night and he just spit out his benadryl and some of it rolled into his eyes. I'm hoping he swallowed some of it??? I just nebulized him. For some reason he'll let me nebulize him but cherry benadryl or anything medicine like is out of the question. He won't stop spitting it out.
UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( I just want him to breathe better!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I was holding his head back to try to prevent him from spitting it out so that's why it rolled into his eyes.
He was up again at 4am so here we are. Awake. Watching Teletubbies.
We're doing a nebulizer every 3 hours until we can see the doc today. I refuse to go to our local voo-doo doctor hospital. Last time they took an xray, it was "inconclusive" and all they gave us were liquid steroids which are SOOOOO harmful to a child.

{{{HUGS}}} I would take him to see an Asthma/Allergy specialist. You mentioned you learned Connor is allergic to dogs. Other than rehoming the dog, did the allergist suggest anything else, such as a HEPA air cleaner in his bedroom and/or allergy pillow and mattress covers?

Actually steroids (Orapred) are on both DK's asthma action plans, but not unless they get into the Red/Danger zone, and at that point it's time to seek immediate medical attention. DS got to that point a few times shortly after his initial asthma diagnosis, but not anywhere near that since getting it under control. DD never has reached that point, thank goodness, but because of my experience with DS I was aware of asthma symptoms and able to get her dxed before it got that bad.

I hope he is feeling better soon. I remember nights like yours, and they are no fun. Josh's asthma is pretty much under control now, so we rarely have nights like these anymore. Hang in there.

Heidi, Josh was terrible about taking medicine too. Are you using a dropper, so you can squirt it down the back of his throat? I did this, and let Josh have a juice box in his hand, so he could drink right after he took it. It seemed to work for him.

Thanks for the hugs you guys...
I took him into the doctor and all she said was that he was congested. :( I disagreed since I've tried every cold medicine there is.
However, I finally did some Benadryl and that helped. I'm going to get his zyrtec today at the pharmacy. He likes chewable tablets so I think that might help the spitting out of the liquid. He actually did not spit out the Benadryl last night or today. :) (And, yes, I do use a syringe.)
