I am so happy for ds

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: I am so happy for ds

My ds was diagnosed with adhd and started a low dose of concerta just before Christmas vacation. I have noticed a big difference and so far he has been in school for 2 days with the med. He came home yesterday and when I asked him about school he got a big grin and said" I didn't even call out one time!" When he thought about it he told me he didn't keep talking to friends when he wasn't suppposed to and he's been getting his homework done in record time since he's staying on task. So far, no side effects either. The dr. said the most common was decreased appetite but so far, so good.

Very positive news! :)

That is awesome news. My DD is on concerta and we have had no really significant side effects in the 3+ years she has been on it. It was a miracle drug for her. She went from failing 3rd grade to making straight As and now she is in PreAP classes in 6th grade.

If you have any questions or just need to talk give me a hollar.

Also if you do see a decrease in appetite the best way I have found to fix the weight problem is a big breakfast before she takes it and either eating dinner after the 12 hrs is up or giving her a snack right before bed.
