Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Coxsackie Virus??
By Latonya on Thursday, December 28, 2006 - 05:13 pm:

Has anyone heard of this and if you have is there anything special I should do? Christopher started out with a bad cough last night and this morning he had a fever of 102 degrees ans a rash all over him. I took him to his Dr abd she says it is coxsackie virus. I have 4 kids and Christopher is the youngest and I have never heard of this. I looked it up on the net and it sounds pretty scary. My poor baby is having so much trouble latley. He also has an appt. next Wed. to find out what is going on with his bladder. Any advice or info would be wonderful. TIA

It is also called hand and foot disease. It is scary in 3rd world countries but we are all blessed with clean drinking, and bathing water, antibiotics to ward off secondary infections, and a clean living environment. Your child will look and act a little different for a few days and you need to monitor. good luck.

Both my kids had Hand Foot Mouth Disease when they were little. It's a common childhood virus. More info here:

All three of mine had this in the last 6 months. They were uncomfortable and irritable but it was over in a few days. I hope he's feeling better very soon!

My kids have had this when they were younger. Popsicles do help with the mouth sores.

Because of my back ground (credentials) I had to post Anonymous otherwise I would be giving medical advice over the internet. I won't participate in these discussions further. I'm sorry.

Anon, that's a valid reason then. If I may make a suggestion, when you need to post anonymously in the future about such things, preface it with what you said above.
