She's Sleeping in her Big Girl Bed!!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: She's Sleeping in her Big Girl Bed!!
By Reds9298 on Friday, July 28, 2006 - 09:18 pm:

Wish us luck! Natalie is sleeping in her big girl bed for the first time tonight. She tried napping today for the first time and was so excited about it. She actually didn't nap at all, but was up in her room a lot, but she was very happy and not the least bit worried about her big bed. Tonight she went to sleep after about 15min. and a reassurance from Mommy & Daddy. We checked on her and she's sleeping at the wrong end of the bed!:)

I think the pillow might bug her since she's not used to sleeping on one. She sleeps on her tummy ALL the time (just like me). Did any of your kids NOT like using the pillow in the beginning?

I'm really proud of her today! We're taking her crib down tomorrow. She's been telling us today to "put that away, it's for babies".:)

PS: For those of you who helped during our recent sleep issues in the crib, all of that seems to have resolved itself over the last week or so and she's back to normal. (Thank Goodness!)

Good luck! My dd still rarely uses her pillow.

My oldest has just started really liking her pillows and my youngest still rarely uses her's. My ds only uses his to sleep under. It used to drive me nuts since I worried about him not being able to breathe but he's still alive and kicking!:)

If Natalie is asking (or telling!) you to put away her crib, I think this may be your easiest nighttime change yet. Of course, you may need to give her a couple of days to be sure she's really adjusting well!:) I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

I don't think my kids used the pillow much, in the beginning. They were kind of all over the bed, too. I can't remember, though, when pillow usage became more routine, though. It was something that just sort of happened.

She had a great night! She was so proud of herself this morning and ready to put a "sticker on fridge". :)

Great news!!!! :)

I'm a tummy sleeper and sleep with my pillow over my head! One of my dds sleeps on her tummy and never uses a pillow. We all find our comfortable positions. Sometimes my kids turn down their covers sometimes they sleep on top with a blanket. It used to bug me but I have let the small stuff go. They like to do this so they don't have to make their beds in the am if they have a big day planned LOL

She went right to sleep this evening, too. She helped us take down her crib today and her "new room" looks so nice with her big toys back in there. She just seems like she is about to burst at being a "big girl". I'm happy for her because getting rid of her paci was hard on her and now she's better.

We were sad to take down the crib though. It was so pretty and we just kept reminiscing about the day we put it together. :( Bittersweet day. Our baby is growing up!

It is a sign that your little baby is growing up! They're all bittersweet.

So glad it's going so well!

It's kind of cute. Lara loves her big girl bed. But ever so often, she will go ask Daddy to get it out of our storage shed and put it back in her room! She's not upset when she asks, I just think she wants to see what DH will say. He usually kids along with her, putting his head in his hands saying, "Oh no, do I have to put it back together?" She comforts him, patting his back and says, "It's okay dad, I like my big girl bed".:-)

Natalie is doing so well, Deanna. You are doing such a great job with her!
