Nighttime buddy - like glo worm??

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Nighttime buddy - like glo worm??
By Amyk on Friday, February 24, 2006 - 07:55 am:

Hi there -

I plan to transition my 2.5yo to a big boy bed sometime in the next 6months or so and was wondering what is available for a stuffed animal or similar that lights up/perhaps plays music that a toddler can sleep with? My ds uses his ocean wonders aquarium now at night if he wakes for comfort -but that won't work well when he transitions from crib to bed. Is there something similar for older kids? Think glo-worm ....

I bought my kids the fisher price flashlight. They'd shine it on the ceiling and eventually fall asleep. They also all had at least one favorite stuffed animal to sleep with.

Natalie has a Little Tikes animal flashlight that she loves! They have several different animals, but she has the dog. It shuts off automatically...hhhmmmm, but it does make the animal sound. You might not want that.

She also has a glo-pooh. He's musical, but she doesn't like the music. He has a switch for music or just the light, and she likes the light.

My kids are both older, so I don't know what's out there now, but I do know a couple of moms actually screwed or nailed or did something to hook the aquarium to the wall at child's level so they could still have that comfort at night. It would probably make the transition easier. Might be something to think about.

I also saw the cutest teddy bear at wal-mart one day. It is for night time use. It is a whitish color. And at night, I don't know if you push something, or turn it on for a certain amount of time or what, it slowly is almost fiberoptic. The entire thing turns into another soft glow-y color, purple, blue, green. It is very soft and soothing. Beautiful. I would have gotten it if my children were younger. I'll see if I can find it online.

Cameron got a Baby Einstein piano for Christmas and Matthew adopted it.

Here is a link:

Piano

He loves it, it lights up when you press the buttons, it plays classic music. It has 3 settings for volume and you switch between animal sounds to music.

It's one of the nicest toys/gifts we have received.

He plays it as he's falling asleep.

We used to have a little cd player in his room but I had to remove it because he spent too much time trying to get up onto the dressor trying to get at it.

My DD has had Muttzart since she was born and LOVES it!!!! It's a little black and white puppy that plays soothing music and his belly lights up (a soft red light!)

Here's something like I was talking about, but not quite. This one comes in white, blue, or pink and glows and changes color. The one I saw changed to several colors but Wal-mart doesn't have it listed on their site. This is from Target's site. It looks so cuddly!

Glowing Teddy

Thanks ladies - I'm bidding on both Muttzart and Glo Pooh on ebay... :-)

I so appreciate your assistance.

I just changed my 2yo's crib into a toddler bed. I would wait until a child is 3 or so before moving them to a big bed because alot of toddlers feel safe in they're crib rather than a big open bed.

I don't know what to tell you to get, other than a glow worm. They have a baby Winnie the Pooh and his face lights up and plays music.
