My poor daughter...

...has Croup. She has no voice (which is nice for me :) ) and she has that barking cough :(.

The bad thing is that her Holiday Concert for school is tomorrow night and she will probably have to miss it. She has been looking forward to singing Jingle Bells and Rudolph with the kindergardeners, first and second graders. I'm so bummed that we will miss it, it's always so cute to see all those kids all dressed up and singing Holiday songs!

She got all teary eyed when i told her that she will probably have to miss the concert. :(

I'm so sorry. It is hard enough to be sick, but really tough when there is something to miss.
I really hope she feels better!

Oh NO! Poor kiddo! Hope she's better soon.

By Kaye on Tuesday, December 13, 2005 - 06:05 pm:

Kids sure bounce back quick, maybe she will feel up to the concert tomorrow. She could go and just be a pretty face even if she didn't feel like singing!

Poor Bella!!!!! Maybe she'll be well enough tomorrow! Crossing fingers here!

I hope she will be well enough to participate! I'll think good thoughts for her.

Awww, that's too bad that she might not get to sing her song! Sarah would have been sad. Emily never liked doing it, so I think she would have been happy, if she didn't have to do it!

How is she this morning??

By Bellajoe on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 - 02:33 pm:

Thanks for asking, Karen. She still has a low fever (99.5) so i had to keep her home from school. She seems to be doing pretty well. She plays for a while and then she wants to go lay down. Unfortunately she is going to have to miss her concert tonight :(. Both sets of grandparents and her aunt and uncle were going to come. My brother told her that once she is better everyone should come over and she could dress up in her pretty dress and give us a private concert. She liked that idea! Of course it's not the same as singing with all her friends in front of a big audience!

She has no voice at all. She sounds like she is whispering. I think she does not want to go to school when she has no voice. I told her that even if she can't talk, she can still listen!!

I hope she is better tomorrow. Tomorrow is her class Christmas Party! It is so hard havig a kid home from school a week before Christmas! I have so much shopping i have to do, i usually do it while they are at school!

Oh, poor kid. Emily missed a grandparent's day in first grade, because she was coughing really bad. My parents were going to come, and everything, but who wants to listen to your kid cough all day?

It's okay, though. She had another one in 2nd grade and my parents came to that one. Then my parents were the last to leave, because they knew another set of grandparents from somewhere they used to live and hadn't seen them in a while! (yack yack yack!)

Oh, I am so sorry. Having a private recital when she's feeling better sounds great, though. Maybe you could invite a friend of hers or two to join her?

I hear you about the Christmas shopping. I'm shopping for Christmas and Randy's birthday party this week and they were both sick.

Hope she's feeling better soon!

Poor Bella. That's so disappointing, when they are looking forward to those special things and illness steps in. I imagine she's pretty down about it. Was she able to go for her party today?

By Kaye on Thursday, December 15, 2005 - 01:49 pm:

last year my youngest got strep the last week before Christmas. He missed his party, his polar express day and everying. It was a pain for me too, trying to juggle all those last minute things!

Glad to hear she is feeling a bit better.

Last night i emailed my sister in law and brother to tell them that she would not be going to the concert. I said something about getting Wendy's for dinner to cheer her up a bit. My sister in law ended up picking up Wendy's and coming over with my brother, his friend and my mom. So we all sat at the table and ate Wendy's. We called it our "Pity Party for Bella" :) She was in her glory and was very thankful that they came over to see her.

She feels much better today, no more sore throat or fever. Her voice is still coming and going but she did go to school. So at least she got to go to the Christmas party! :) :) :)

Good for her. At least she didn't miss *everything*.
