Getting molars

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2005: Getting molars
By Reds9298 on Wednesday, December 7, 2005 - 10:37 pm:

Natalie is 17mths and still no molars. In the last 2 days we have started to see both bottom eye teeth just barely starting to edge through, but no molars.

Her 18mth. check-up is after the New Year and we're going to ask our new ped (yay!) about it. Our old ped at 15mths. said he wasn't worried, but I'm concerned. She's gotten all of her teeth so far a little late, so maybe it's just the norm for her. When did your kids get their first molar? Is this normal? TIA:)

Normal is a relative term. My dd got her molars at 14 months; however, they were her first teeth. She had NO front teeth and cut three molars easter weekend, WHAT FUN!

Kaitlyn *just* cut her last molar and she's 2 1/2. If the pediatrician isn't concerned, I wouldn't worry yet.

Connor and Natalie are the same age...he hasn't had his come in either. I heard (and this is probably an old wive's tale) that the later they come in, the more healthy they are.
Who knows.... :)
(BTW, I just posted his Christmas pictures on the photo board! You can see a lot of his teeth in one of them!) LOL

My two dk's were so different. My dd started getting her molars peeking through at, You won't even believe me, 6 weeks. My doctor thought I was crazy until he looked in her mouth. Now it was only a very small part of them. They didn't acutally come through till much later, like over a year. But my ds didn't get any teeth until 15 months. They were going to actually do an xray of his mouth next visit but they finally started coming. My dd was my second, so I figured my ds was the norm. I about flipped when she started drooling like crazy at 6 weeks. Neither one of my dk's were bothered by there teeth.
