Awwww!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Awwww!

So, the other day the kids finally got to break the wishbone from the turkey, and Madison got the bigger half. Fast forward to last night, and she comes out of bed looking completely forlorn... I ask her what's up, and she says "When is my wish gonna come true?" I'm confused, and ask what she's talking about, and she says "My wishbone wish... when will it come true?!" Crap, right? How do I explain this one?! So I tell her the wishbone is just for fun, like wishing on a star, and there is no way to tell when the wish will come true. I don't want to break her heart, but I can't promise anything either, so I ask what her wish was. (I was really hesitant, because it's more fun to believe you have to keep it a secret, right?!)

Madison looks at me, with the adorable, patented Maddie-look, and says "I wished for a castle for you... for you to live in! I want you to have a castle to live in!" (Notice it wasn't a castle for HER, even though she is certain she is the princess!)

For as much trouble as my kids have given me lately, they both come up with some adorably sweet ideas like that. It just makes me melt!! Of course, Madison comes up with funny ones too, like when I explained one time last year that we can't get *everything* we want, because stuff costs money, and I have to pay bills, too. Mads looked at me and said "When I grow up, I'm going to pay one of your bills for you!" I just hope she remembers that one day, maybe I'll be able to off-load a credit card payment or something! LOL

God knows just when we need moments like that! Sometimes our kids can push us so far so many times, and then in one quick moment they make it all worth while. Those are both such sweet thoughts she had for you.

Dana, this is so true... although He must have known she was planning some evil deeds, because the next morning she tore all kinds of stuff up! She is a sweetie when she wants to be, but she can definitely be a terror too!

Oh, Crystal, you have no clue at how hard I am laughing right now. "ROFLOL" means nothing to the reaction your update brought out in me! Oh, thank you so much for posting that. You made my night!

LOL, Dana... I assume you have BTDT?

By Dana on Monday, December 8, 2008 - 08:21 am:

BTDT, doing that, know it will happen again that! You name it.

Well, misery loves company, so I'm glad it's not just me! Really, though... sometimes they put me through the paces, and I start wondering if I'm the only mom out there who feels that way!

That is so sweet!!!!! For all the things they do that drive us crazy, they come up with some of the most thoughtful things, too.
