15 mo checkup

I HATE going in for these since Connor cries SO hard! And it's not even the shots that hurt!

He can't get the flu shot since he's allergic to eggs and she told me that he can't have ANYTHING with eggs in it (like the french toast we've been giving him), so he doesn't produce any more antibodies against it. (For a year.) Ugh.

He's 24 lbs (he fought so hard against the scale. He hates those things.) He's 33" tall and getting his molars in the back now.

He was in a better mood towards the end, but next time I'm bringing hubby. :)

I'm sorry, Heidi. Hugs to you and Connor. Those visits are never fun.

Wow, he really hates just going to the doctor huh!! That has to be hard on you both! Did they do allergy testing on him? Is eggs the only thing he is allergic to? Boy, NO eggs at all is going to be tough!! I think just about everything that is baked has eggs in it!! Your going to have to be a very good label reader!!

Wow, avoiding eggs will be a challenge. I'm sorry he makes it rough on you!

Sorry it was rough! I was just thinking of posting for you and Andi to see how big your kids were since they are the same age as Natalie. Natalie hates the weight and height more than the shots! She just cries, but luckily doesn't fight.
Natalie is only 22lbs. and 31.5 in height. She's a small little lady! No molars at all yet, but she's gotten all of her teeth late.
Also - did your ped talk to you about discipline and if so, what? (I'm comparing it to our doc. Thanks!)

Thanks, ladies, for the support. The eggs issue is going to be interesting. Good thing it's not really a staple in our house. We hardly ever eat cake, cookie, etc. But, I have been giving him toddler cookies once a day.

Deanna,
Our pediatrician said that when he does something that he's not supposed to do (lately he's been trying to get into Barley's food...ick), we are supposed to pick him up, say "NO, don't play with Barley's food" and put him over in a place I can still watch him but he knows he doesn't have an audience and we ignore him for one minute. After about a minute (or less) of crying, he gets distracted anyway by something else.
He's *slowly but surely* learning about what to stay away from. Although, it seems like I have to do this at least 4 times a day. It is lessening though. What did your doc say?

By Reds9298 on Tuesday, October 4, 2005 - 12:38 pm:

Thanks Heidi - I was just wondering because this was our last visit to this particular ped and one reason is how he bugs us about discipline issues. We just don't feel like it's his concern unless we ask him, you know? (That's only one of the reasons we're switching.) I just wondered if other docs even bring up discipine in detail unless the parent asks for info.

Natalie is a really good listener for the most part. She has surprised us! She will sometimes throw a fit, but it lasta about a minute and she stops the behavior so it's fine.
