Reflux/Delayed Stomach Emptying

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2005: Reflux/Delayed Stomach Emptying
By Kate on Friday, September 23, 2005 - 06:18 pm:

A friend of mine asked me to post this question. She has signed up to join Momsview but of course can't post until she has been approved. In the meantime she had this question:

My 4 month old son was just diagnosed with reflux and delayed gastric emptying. He has been on zantac since he was three weeks old and the GI specialist has just prescribed reglan. I've been able to find a lot of information on reflux, but very little on the delayed stomach emptying. Does anyone have any information or experience with this? How long will it take him to outgrow it?

Delayed Gastric Emptying is also called Gastroparesis. Before anyone can answer how long it will take to outgrow it, the underlying cause must be established. www.medlineplus.com is a good source of information that is in simple terms. I could not find information about gastroparesis in pediatrics right away. Here is one link from the site that gives some general info.
