My neighbor was wondering...

if her son has an ear infection.
Her son is a little older than Connor and isn't sleeping at all and tugging at his ear. Although, there isn't a fever that coincides with his condition. He hasn't done this before
A little sleep needs to be had in her household...her DH is in Iraq and so she just needs some zzz's. Although, she's more concerned about her DS getting some sleep and feeling better.
She went to Target and purchased some homeopathic type stuff...(I think it was Similisan?)
Any advice? I know you guys have ear advice all the time and I haven't gone through this (yet) with Connor.

Sounds like an ear infection to me!

Tugging at ears is very often a sign of an ear infection. I'd advise taking him to the ped. Untreated ear infections can lead to burst eardrums, and scarring - too much scarring can lead to hearing loss, which can lead to speech delays.

The only way to know for sure is to take him to be checked. I wouldn't mess with the ears either. Better safe than sorry!! Tugging at his ear is a good sign that something isn't right in there. Add to that not sleeping well and is sounds like an infection to me too!

Sounds like an ear infection-there is not always a fever with one!

I would take him to the doctor, if he was my kid.

I would take him to the doctor. My ds used to get lots of ear infections. He had no symptoms except for not sleeping. He never got a fever or fussy. The minute he would start waking up at night, I would take him in. Sure enough, he had an ear infection every time.

Sounds like one for sure, she should take him in. They don't always run a fever so sometimes it's hard to tell.
