What do you consider walking?

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2005: What do you consider walking?

Faith is 12 1/2 months old and she does walk, somewhat. She walks maybe 7 or 8 steps the most, then starts to crawl. Normally she usually walks 3 or 4 steps on average, and then gets down and crawls. The dr considers her a "walker". We had her one yr appt on Tuesday, and she walked about 4 steps in the office. I dont consider her a walker, because 95% of the time she still crawls.
So did you say the first steps, your kids were walking. Or do you consider them walkers when they walk fulltime.

I said they were starting to walk until they stopped falling so much. I would consider a child that walks more than 5 or 6 steps without falling a walker, especially if they get back up and start again. :)

yeah, I think I agree with My3Cuties. When they could walk pretty much of the time, and were steady on their feet. This wasn't right when they took the first steps, since it seems it takes a while for them to be confident with their ability to walk.
