Carseat question for Trina

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2005: Carseat question for Trina

Hi, I hear you're the expert on carseat safety... :o)

I think my carseat is fine, but it JUST hit me this afternoon that I'd better check into this just to be on the safe side...

A week ago I was rear-ended. Only very minor damage in back, and it didn't hit hard enough that it hurt me in any way, no whiplash the next day or anything. My trunk is full of toys and they were all still in fairly decent array except a couple puzzle pieces had been jolted out of some puzzles so the impact couldn't have been that great or the whole trunk would have been a giant mess...

Carseat was empty at the time. Any risk? -- I know they always say never use a carseat that's been in an accident which is why I ask, but I don't really know that this could even count as a true "accident". Any idea?

Trina is on vacation this week. :)

I've read that in any kind of accident, the seat needs to be replaced. You just never know. Is it an accident where insurance is involved. I have a friend whose insurance suggested and paid for a new car seat. Good luck.:)

I work for a major nationwide insurance company. Call your agent. Our policy is no matter how minor the accident, the seat gets replaced at no charge to you. Your insurance might be the same.

Wow, great, thanks for the information, I'll call the adjuster and find out how to do this!
