Peanut Butter

When did your pediatrician say it was ok to give peanut butter? My ped just said "no nuts" because he could aspirate them and choke...so, I was just curious.
I'm a bit paranoid after that egg issue.

Our ped had us wait until Timmy was 2.

We sort of flubbed on the whole nut thing. I gave him Honey Nut Cheerios right about when he turned 1. After he ate those fine, I didn't worry about the rest.

Taylor's favorite lunch is PB&J.:) No allergies in our family so we didn't have to worry. I let her have Peanut Butter when she turned 1 (The Creamy Peanut Butter)

Our ped. told us to wait until at least age 3 to introduce peanuts/nuts because I have a peanut intolerance. GOOD thing we waited because it turns out BOTH my kids have severe nut allergies. We learned the hard way when DS was 3.5 and we gave him his first pistachio nut. At that point he was old enough to tell us something was wrong.

I was always told to wait until age one. That goes for peanuts, eggwhite ,honey, and strawberries.

I think I might just wait...especially after his egg allergy scare. ugh.

I started peanut butter at about 1 year with both of my boys with no problems, but if there is a strong family history of food allergies, esp. nut or legume allergies, then I'd be a bit more cautious.
