She went in for her weight check today and she has gained, are you ready?.....11 oz. in a week. That is with supplementing 2-2 oz. bottles a day Monday - Thursday, and me eating right. That's not too bad. Now I am going to see how her weight does and see if I can eventually get rid of the bottles. Now she is a 8 lb. 14 oz. bundle of happiness. Just thought I would share. :)

Woo Hoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See, she's doing just FINE!!

By Heaventree on Friday, July 29, 2005 - 08:22 pm:

Great News! 11 oz is wonderful, congratulations!

By Jelygu on Friday, July 29, 2005 - 08:49 pm:

Great! I am so happy, and I am sure that you feel so much better!

By Rayanne on Friday, July 29, 2005 - 10:39 pm:

AWESOME!!!!!
Ok...Now you can take a sigh of relief.:)

By Kaye on Friday, July 29, 2005 - 11:10 pm:

Woo Hoo! You may want to keep bottles in her life, just try to make them bm instead of formula! It is nice if she will take a bottle just in case you need to leave her, some breast feeding moms never get that!

By My2cuties on Saturday, July 30, 2005 - 01:31 am:

I am going to try to find a good rental breastpump so I could pump bm bottles.

By Heaventree on Saturday, July 30, 2005 - 09:44 am:

Kay, has a good point. Matt took breastmilk from a bottle for a few months then stopped. I think because I only used a bottle once a week. I couldn't go anywhere or do anthing with out him longer than 2 hours for months on end.

I will give the next one breast milk in a bottle at least once a day. Good luck.

By Mrsheidi on Saturday, July 30, 2005 - 01:16 pm:

YEAH! That IS good news!!

By Ginny~moderator on Saturday, July 30, 2005 - 01:47 pm:

I agree. I gave both my first and second sons breast milk in a bottle at least a couple of times a week for just that reason.

I used a hand pump, because the electric ones were simply to expensive, imo. I wouldn't want to use the hand pump several times a day, but to fill one bottle a day or every couple of days, it works fine.

By Annie2 on Saturday, July 30, 2005 - 07:05 pm:

Wow, wonderful news! :)

By Andi on Sunday, July 31, 2005 - 05:48 pm:

I had to rent a hospital Grade Pump with DD, that helped alot, I was able to have a couple bottles standing by if I needed them.

That is wonderful news!

I seem to remember getting an electric model for about $35 at walmart, it worked fine. I couldnt use a hand model because I have carpel tunnel and I would be dying after just a few pumps.

Just wondering how she is doing? Have you had any more weight checks??

By My2cuties on Thursday, August 18, 2005 - 04:52 pm:

She goes tomorrow again...I will post then. Thanks for asking.

By My2cuties on Friday, August 19, 2005 - 07:03 pm:

UPDATE:

She has gained another 5 oz. (in 2 weeks), but her doctor said that's not good enough. She pees and poops regular and she is a happy baby. We go again next Thursday and her doctor said if she hasn't got up to speed then he wants to do some tests on her kidneys. That is ridiculous, imo, she is gaining slowly but surely. It took her a whole month to get back up to birth weight, but she has gained all the time and not lost, she has gained... just not gained a whole bunch. She was 9 lbs. 4 oz. today. I think she is perfect!

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, August 20, 2005 - 04:29 pm:

Poor little one! At least she is gaining some weight. It took both of my kids 3 weeks to regain their birth weights. I had to take both of them to the doctor, the 3rd week, too.

By Vicki on Saturday, August 20, 2005 - 04:53 pm:

Well, I wouldn't worry too much about it, but if the doctor wants to run tests, I would be all for it. If nothing else it will put your mind at total ease about her weight and the slow gain. I am sure it is one of those better safe than sorry things. If something were to be wrong, it would be better to find out sooner rather than letting it go on longer. Like I said, I wouldn't worry too much about it, but tests would make me feel better!!

By Tink on Saturday, August 20, 2005 - 04:55 pm:

I'll keep you and Lauren in my thoughts. I hope that nothing is wrong. I agree that the weight she's gained is a good thing. Better to have a doctor that is pro-active than one who sits around and waits for a bigger problem to develop, though.
