Teething??

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2005: Teething??

Raya will be 3 months old on the 3rd. For a couple of weeks she has been drooling(a lot!), trying to put everything that touches her hands in her mouth. She's been super fussy, every night around 4-7. Could this be teething??

She also has an umbilical hernia, which her doctor said a month ago should correct on it own. Would this cause any pain?? I don't know what to do. I'm thinking about calling and trying to get her in to the doctor tonight!

DH and I are supposed to go to the Black Crows/Tom Petty concert tonight, and I feel bad leaving her with someone when she's so fussy!!

It could well be teething - Jeff cut his first tooth very early - 4 months or so.

I had an umbilical hernia, I don't think they cause pain, and it self-corrected. The only lasting effect is that my belly button is sort of an *outie*.

Enjoy the concert! I'm jealous! LOL Give her some infant tylenol or motrin and she should be fine.

I ditto the tylenol or motrin advice. My ds acted like he was teething from the time he was two months on. He didn't cut his first tooth until he was eight months old. I think some babies just tend to drool a lot more. My ds was a high maintanence baby and tended to be fussier and he still likes to have things in his mouth. Keep your cell phone close and then relax and rock out!

Teething can last for months before a tooth shows up.Try Hylands homeopathic teething tablets. They will relax her and there are no side effects.
Say hi to my friend,Ben, the piano player for Tom Petty for me.

Matt started at 4 months with the drooling, but it took awhile for the tooth to come in. Hylands are great but sometimes hard to find. You can try Camila, found in most pharmacies works the same as Hylands.

Also check her BMs, sometimes when they are teething and drooling a lot they will have a bit of muscus in the diaper with the BMs and may go more often than ususal.

Thanks for the help!! Yeah, she does have muscus some in her diapers. I think I feel a couple of bumps on her gums too.

As for the concert...it sold at at 1:30 that night. We didn't have tickets yet. We tried to go up there and get tickets but it was a bust!! I'm glad now we didn't, it stormed something awful and they quite about half way through the concert!!
