New pic in profile- check out our big girl!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2005: New pic in profile- check out our big girl!
By Reds9298 on Sunday, June 26, 2005 - 10:43 pm:

I finally was able to resize a picture to fit into my profile (although I'm sur ethere's a better way to do it), so check out our big girl...she's 1 today! Can't believe how fast time flies. It's not the best resolution (I don't know how you guys do it) and I can't figure out how to post on the photo board, but I'm excited anyway!
We think she's beautiful of course! :) Dh and I are both redheads, and so is she (surprise) so she had a Strawberry Shortcake cake. Every day with her is so much fun!

(If someone can give me any info or resource for posting on the photo board I'd appreciate it. Also, if you know how to crunch a photo with Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album I'd appreciate that, too! I've downloaded an image cruncher before and my computer crashed so I don't want to do that anymore!:) )

Then you get a new screen, click browse, find the picture on your computer and click ok. The picture should be there, in your post.

Pics have to be less than 50k and make sure you use this "\" and not this "/"

What version of Paint Shop Pro do you have? I have version 8 and 9 on my computer at the moment. I like using the JPG optimizer, since I can use a slider to control the compression and file-size.

File-Export-JPEG Optimizer

jpeg optimizer

On top top right, it tells you the kb of the finished picture. This one is 43K, so would be okay for posting on Momsview. If that number was higher than 50K, you could increase the compression to make the filesize smaller. I don't ever play with the "chroma subsampling" thingie. I just take the default. Then click ok. You do have to make sure your picture has been saved, before you do this. Otherwise it doesn't work. When you click OK, after fixing the compression, it will ask you if you want to save over the previous picture. Say yes. Then you should be good to go!

Aww, she looks so precious! What color are her eyes? I was expecting light colored w/ red hair, but they look dark in that pic.

Very dark brown eyes like her Daddy. :)
Dawn, thanks for the info. I don't think I have the same software as you do. Mine is the most recent Jasc Paint Shop Photo Album 5 and it doesn't have the optimizer. Thanks for telling me how to post on the photo board though...I've got to get my resolution better before I do that. Right now I just go to image size, decrease 50%, and on many pictures it's small enough for momsview, but they don't look so good. Everyone else's posted pix look great still! I'll keep playing with it...any tips much appreciated, too.

Oh, I don't have Photo Album. I have the graphics program. The JPG optimizer is nice. It's usually how I crunch my pictures.

I'll have to look into getting that Dawn.

If you get over the fear of downloading an image cruncher, you might look at Irfanview. It's used by several members here and is VERY easy to work with.

I love the picture of your dd. I have always had a thing for red-haired babies. Too bad I married an Italian! Red hair and brown eyes are sooo pretty and unusual together!
