Rough morning

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2005: Rough morning
By Frasersmama on Wednesday, June 8, 2005 - 01:07 pm:

I am returning to work tomorrow (to a new job, yikes, as if that isn't scary enough) and have been working on gradually transitioning Fraser to her daycare. It goes really well when I am there, she plays nicely, but of course when I leave...hysterical crying. I have been just leaving her for an hour or two, but since I am working toworrow and picking her up early isn't going to be an option, she needs to tough it out a bit. Well, she as really clingy this morning and was so upset when I left her, but of course I know I just had to go and not look back so as not to drag it out for her. Now I am at home alone and feeling like the saddest, meanest Mommy in the world :(

Just needed a little vent/support.

I used to work with that age group at our church. It is tough. But I promise that most of the children cry like that for only a few minutes, they are very quickly distracted. If your childcare is any good, within a couple of weeks they will know exactly what soothes her and as soon as you walk out the door will pull out the bubbles or whatever makes her better. Of the 40 or so kids I saw over a couple of years only 1 cried for the whole hour, once they got happy they stayed that way.

Kaye is right. They do calm down, but I know it's hard. I have never really had to leave my girls but I know how other kids are because I have watched them. They will figure her out and in no time she will be doing great! :) Don't feel bad, everything will be just fine.
