Timmy went away with the guys this weekend and none of them realized his back was burnt until it was too late. He is staying home from school today but what works best to help it the quickest. We have been keeping him covered in Aloe but if anyone knows anything else let me know. Also he is going to the Dr this afternoon for something different could they prescribe some cream to help do you think?

When I was a kid the thing that worked best was solarcaine spray (or lidacane). I laughted when the gave me a can post delivery, i wasn't sunburned :) Make sure you keep him well hydrated.

I have that stuff in the bathroom from after having Jade I will read the label and if that is what it is we will use that too. Any other ideas are greatly appreciated. I would love to just ring DH's neck right now. My poor kid is just miserable!

We always use that blue stuff. (Blue Ice?) It has aloe and something for pain. For us, it works the best and fastest.

I will look for that too. At this point I will use it all if it will help my poor kid to get through the next couple of days.

I get very badyly sunburnt very easily. From my experience really no matter what you do they are better in a couple of days. The key is to keep the heat down, cold baths and whatever stuff. Don't use things like mayo, alcohol, etc. You want the skin to release the heat, not hold it in.

Lidocaine spray and faceclothes soaked in vinegar and layed gently on the back helps. Hope he heals soon.

**OUCH!** Poor kid. Hope he's better soon.

Aloe works very well- especially an aloe plant! Cut it open and apply the liquid.

You can make up a big pitcher of iced tea (use regular black tea, like Lipton) and soak cloths in the tea and place all over his back. I burnt very badly (2nd degree burns) when I was in high school and this, plus a prescription burn cream, is the only thing that really felt good. The tannin in the tea is very soothing but the tea can stain so make sure he's laying on a sheet or towels.

We usually put silvadene cream on burns. Let us know what the doctor says.

We always keep a bottle of spray solacaine in the medicine cabinet for sunburns. It goes on ice cold and feels good. Numbing the area.

Well he went to school today and seems to be doing allot better. He is moving around and not complaining really at all. It doesn't look near as bad as it did so hopefully by tomorrow it will be gone or at least way better.

Glad to hear he is feeling better. We use the rub in aloe gels as well but I like the spray on Solarcaine much better. I think it hurts the child less because you don't have to rub it in.
