Wiggles Obsessed!!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2005: Wiggles Obsessed!!

I haven't brought this up before but do your kids love, I mean LOVE the Wiggles?
Or have an obsession with other characters from movies or T.V.?
My ds who is almost 2 1/2 has been waking up saying: "Greg,Murray Anthony and Jeff"
This has been going on for a long time.We started playing him the videos before he was one but he never lost interest in it, like he has with so many other things.
This is kind of weird but he has to have the four colors: red, blue, yellow, and purple of everything that he's playing with.He will find those four crayons and walk around with them all day. He asks for his oatmeal in the "Greg"
bowl (the yellow one) and his drink in the "Jeff"
cup(the purple).
He loves the songs, the movies, the computer games. He plays the cd's in his room.
It doesn't help that his grandma knows this and bought him the matching cards and the "Big Red Car".
My dh looked at me last night and said "What have we done?"
Can anyone relate? Is this normal?

When my DS was that age it was Thomas the Tank Engine. We practically lived on the Island of Sodor! LOL!

My daughter loves the Wiggles, Bear in the Big Blue House, and Jo Jo's Circus.
We might be taking her to see the Wiggles if and when they come here. We are probably going to MGM for her birthday for her to see Playhouse Disney Live.

When my kid was little, she liked Barney! My kids are too big for Wiggles!

For Sarah's 4th birthday, she got Barney sheets and Barney jammies! LOL!

Alissa is now into Dora bigtime. I think its just a phase they go through.

DS loved the Wiggles when he was younger, he still ikes them. He loved them so much that when he was 21/2 we paid $150 for floor tickets to go see them. :) LOL! I noticed DD is really getting into them, we will have to see how much she loves them.

Both my ds's were obsessed with Thomas the Train. We have almost every train and tons of track. My youngest even has a Thomas room. He is now growing out of it and actually told me the other day, that he really wants a new room for his birthday, he will be 5 in July. Now, both my boys are obsessed with sports. They absolutely love Baseball. My oldest has his room decorated with baseball penants and sports stuff. Now, my youngest wants a baseball room too.

I think that all children go through their obsessions at one time or another.

Sooo normal! My son is bipolar - he can't decide if he's Thomas the Tank or Velm from Scooby-Doo.
I think it's very healthy for children to pretend and play out their little stories.

My DD LOVES Herbie the Love Bug!! (Yes, the old movies from the 70's!) He is her imaginary friend! Thank Heaven Disney remade Herbie. We can't wait for the big day in June! It will be HUUUGE in our house! She saw the preview in the theater and she was hootin' and hollering like a wild woman! Just enjoy it. It will be something else before you know it.:)

By Jelygu on Sunday, May 15, 2005 - 12:40 pm:

Christopher loves Blue's Clues. We have Tivo, so we have a few saved for an emergancy (LOL), and he knows it! He will pick up the remote, bring it to me, and say "Blue? Pease? Ok!"
It's pretty cute, and hard to resist :)

My DS is 20 months old and he just loves The Wiggles, Stanley, The Shanna Show, and Higgly Town Heros. He will sit in front of the TV for hours if we let him. We alos have Tivo and have Wiggles saved for later in the day when there is none on and gets cranky. We can turn them on and he will watch for a while and then fall asleep.

Blues clues and magic school bus from the library here. I swear I should just buy the videos and have done w/ it. When we go to the library he runs straight for the videos and picks up as many as he can hold and then he is done and wants to go home to watch them. Sigh...

My now 16yo was obsessed w/ Aladdin. I knew I was in trouble when I caught myself singing along in the video store. "prince ahle happy is he ally ababaa......." :)

It must be contagious. I had a dream about Greg, and I was singing and dancing at a Wiggles rehearsal.I guess I like the Wiggles too.;)

My son loves any and all Disney movies... His most recent obsessions are what I would consider for older kids really The Wizard of Oz and ET.

BTW, we saw WIggles last August and they do a GREAT show! They'll be here again in August and I'm considering getting tickets again.

We saw the Wiggles on Halloween in a huge arena. They played to the whole audience. Murray and Jeff were out in the audience. We were pretty high up but we got to shake hands with Murray and got a picture with him. It was great.

My dd's obsession is and has been for as long as I can remember Disney princesses. I remember when she was 9 months old pushing her through a toy store looking for a gift. As we went down boy aisles, she sat very still not saying anything. I turned down the pink aisle and she went nuts making noises and saying 'baby' . She sat with her mouth wide open at the pretty princess stuff. Her fave of the princesses is Aurora (Sleeping Beauty).

Oh my, if Freedom got to shake hands with Murray he would have a permanent grin until he was 21.
